In April, we booked direct tickets to Lyon for two weeks. \u00a0Because we’re crazy like that.<\/p>\n

Initially we figured we’d stay close to our friends who were also going to be in the area, but in the end we opted for staying in Lyon, renting a house through airbnb.com<\/a>, an hour away from them. \u00a0Instead, we planned to meet our friends in Italy, again renting a place through airbnb<\/a> for all of us. Cute kids at the Keflavik airport. We ordered pizza and let them eat it in front of the tv. That was a big hit!<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

\"We<\/a>

We landed around 10 pm local time after a four hour flight, and had to wait a very very<\/em> long time for the luggage to arrive (30 minutes!). Which was weird because the airport was essentially empty! When we finally got out, we caught a bus to the rental car place, which stopped far enough away from the office that I opted to stay behind with Bjarki, Emma, and the luggage, while Finnur and Anna sorted out the car situation.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Ah,<\/a>

A short drive (including a few wrong turns, ooops!) later, we finally arrived at our destination and were reunited with WiFi!! \u00a0Phew! \u00a0Oh, and see that white bottle on the table? \u00a0Turns out the French aren’t all that keen on fresh milk, they seem to rely\u00a0on\u00a0the long-term pasteurized version (G-milk in Iceland). \u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

We scoured the fridge for some “dinner”, since all the shops were closed.<\/p><\/div>\n

Anna discovering the toys in her room. I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to just rent hotel rooms from now on… \u00a0Toys are where it’s at, babe!<\/p><\/div>\n

We discovered that the French and Italians seem to prefer very firm mattresses. That took some getting used to!<\/p><\/div>\n
