[Written 15 JULY 2014. \u00a0Time is in the eye of the beholder.<\/em>]<\/p>\n

The third and final day of the football meet began with the same shoddy weather as before. \u00a0Thankfully R\u00edkey was there to rouse me, because I’d been so out of it the night before (sooo tiiiiired!) that I’d only begun setting my alarm, without\u00a0completing it.<\/p>\n

After getting dressed quickly, I headed out to fetch Bjarki from school and found him… (47 images total)<\/p>\n

… still fast asleep at 8 am. Apparently he was a little apprehensive falling asleep the night before but got to lala-land in the end.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

It was pretty darn chilly out and the boys ran around a bit to warm up.<\/p><\/div>\n

Huddled around the ball as usual. Bjarki mostly kept his polite distance from it.<\/p><\/div>\n

The boys were super tired, and ended up losing the game. Oh well.<\/p><\/div>\n

Afterwards we all clambered down onto the beach because…<\/p><\/div>\n

… the team leader had promised to go swimming in the ocean. \u00a0(There were already a few swimmers in the sea, see the heads bobbing in the ocean!)<\/p><\/div>\n

He made it back fine, and told us it had been invigorating.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had to wait a bit for the official closing ceremony, so we played some games.<\/p><\/div>\n

I chatted with one of the ladies, and apparently they go swimming the whole year round, except they stay in longer in the summer time. This session had apparently lasted some 25 minutes.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Langisandur<\/a>

Langisandur (The Long Sand) is one of the best beaches for frolicking in Iceland.<\/p><\/div>\n

One dad let his kid play in his swim trunks. Bjarki was jealous.<\/p><\/div>\n

Waves are forever captivating.<\/p><\/div>\n

Bjarki with his indoor soccer shoes. They didn’t fare too well in real grass.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mom, can I please go barefoot? Yeah… sure…<\/p><\/div>\n

We hung out on the beach for a looong time…<\/p><\/div>\n

Ok, kiddo. Time to go to the team BBQ party.<\/p><\/div>\n

Trudging up to land.<\/p><\/div>\n

The team BBQ was at the campsite by the old boats.<\/p><\/div>\n

Everybody got a hot dog, and the kids got some juice as well.<\/p><\/div>\n

Right about then the clouds started clearing up.<\/p><\/div>\n

Then it was time to go to the formal closing ceremony where everybody got a participation medal.<\/p><\/div>\n

It was kind of loud in there so we skipped out a little early to check out the fire truck.<\/p><\/div>\n

Bjarki got permission to climb aboard.<\/p><\/div>\n

By the time the meet officially ended, the sun was out in full force!<\/p><\/div>\n

We decided we weren’t in a rush to get back, so we hung out on the beach with R\u00edkey and her gang.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"When<\/a>

When we were all beached out, we headed to my cousin Lilla’s house, where I’d stayed the night.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"After<\/a>

After a sand-and-salt-rinsing shower, the kids got to air-dry in the sun.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Enjoying<\/a>

Enjoying the sudden onset of nice weather.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"We<\/a>

We hung out until 5 pm or so, and then drove back to town. \u00a0We were tired but happy after an eventful weekend.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
