This past autumn somehow, slowly but surely, crushed me.

By the time the kids were taken care of by 9 pm, I was totally done for, and blogging (which I enjoy, darnit!) rarely happened. Documenting our busy summer months took half of forever, so when I looked back over the year in January, I discovered I’d posted ZERO things from November. That hasn’t happened in years…

Since November (and the autumn in general) still taunts me, I’m going to try and give it a little love. I hope you bear with me! (42 images total)

The same day as I returned from a week-long work trip to Canada, Steinunn and Einar hosted a naming-party for their second child.

Their older child, Þórarinn Víkingur, was named after his granddad on his mom’s side, so it didn’t come as a huge surprise that the new guy was named after his granddad on his dad’s side. The party was a great success with fantastic food, and a celebratory mood all around! (15 images total)

An Autumn Day at Home

I realized with some surprise that I’d yet to take a single photo of the autumn colors. So right before heading off to Canada for a week, I got two of the kids to go outside and pose for photos.

Earlier in the morning I also took some photos during ‘computer time’, except the tablet Emma was going to watch was out of batteries, so she ended up painting, the poor thing. Yes, this post only has photos of the kids. My privilege. (24 images total)

Kids being unusually cooperative for two seconds. And yes, Emma’s begun to figure out how biking works, but she’s very slow still.

Super-Short-Notice Work-Trip to Denmark

On Monday I was asked if I could travel to Denmark the day after for a four-day work trip (very Icelandic planning!). The job was a relatively simple one, daytime-hours only, so it turned into a wonderful me-time trip.

Yes, I’d just returned to work after a five week long summer vacation, but the vacation apparently only lowered my stress levels, but didn’t replenish much energy. I blame the constant chorus of mommy-mommy-mommy!

So, after I’d gotten over my initial nerves over the job at hand, I had a lovely couple of late afternoons, and evenings, where I could wander around in peace, do some shopping, eat dinners in silence, and read a book I’d been putting off reading for a month. Did I tell the world I’m an introvert already? (54 images total)
