My plane to Iceland left late in the afternoon, so I had the entire morning to wander around Vancouver. I finally managed to visit the observation tower, and also walked around “Gastown”. (56 images total)

Photos from my journey back to Iceland from the Edmonton-area, via Vancouver. My coworkers and I all split up on arrival in Vancouver, as some had friends to visit, and another had to hurry home a day early. I went shopping, out to dinner, walked about a bit, and then zzzzz… (35 images total)

Winter Worktrip #3 to Freezing Canada – Yet Again!

The third and last of my Canada work-trips this winter began on our wedding anniversary. Very romantic… not!

This time I flew through Vancouver both ways, only stopping for a few hours on the way there, but spending almost 24 hours on the way back. Here are photos from the trip there, and my stay in Spruce Grove, which was mostly comprised of work, eating, and a few walks. (36 images total)

February Winter-Break UK Trip – Part 2 of 2

A very long time ago, I almost bought tickets to see Matilda the Musical when it was still in pre-sale, and not yet a huge hit that was impossible to get tickets to. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get the tickets, but now that it’s been running for close to a decade (!!!), demand had gone down enough that I managed to score great tickets on short notice.

For our UK Sunday then, I took the big kids up to London to first visit my brother Pétur and his family, where we happened to stumble upon my brother Nökkvi who was there for a short visit. Afterwards we made our way to London proper for a showing of Matilda and we had a great time! (A few months later I learnt that the musical is coming to Iceland this winter!!!) While we were gallivanting around London, the rest of our crew went on a train ride of their own.

On the Monday we finally made it to the toboggan run, and then Tuesday it was time to fly back to Iceland, leaving Finnur behind for the remainder of the week to work with real live colleagues. (44 images total)

February Winter-Break UK Trip – Part 1 of 2

I think this was the first winter where we went to the UK for both winter breaks (2 days off, adjacent to a weekend). It so happens that Finnur’s working closely with people in London these days, so it made sense for him to spend a week working there, and why not get a change of scenery for the rest of us along the way? It felt like February was ridiculously packed. It was sandwiched between two work-trips of mine to Canada, and contained Emma’s birthday aaand the kid’s school winter-break, during which we traveled to the UK where we left Finnur behind so he could work in London for a whole week. Phew!

In between the birthday and the UK trip were two days, the first was a standard but pretty Tuesday, while the second was Ash Wednesday, aka the Icelandic Halloween! (14 images total)

Emma Ósk Turns 5 Years Old

Emma’s fifth birthday landed on a Monday, and we decided to have a party for her at home after work ended. It was a party of the super easy kind, where we ordered pizza, and I think Anna even made the cake! (11 images total)
