Bjarki started practicing gymnastics once per week with Gerpla late this fall, after hanging out on a wait-list for over a year. I think he’s only attended four sessions so far, but that was apparently enough to attend Gerpla’s “Advent Meet” – his first meet ever. His slot was between 10 am and 11:30 am this morning, so Finnur’s parents dropped the kids off by the sports center shortly before the hoopla was supposed to start. This meet slot was apparently only for 5 year olds. There were three boy groups and five girl groups, and each group took turns performing a particular set of exercises.

This Saturday morning I decided to bring the ‘big’ camera to Bjarki’s sports/athletics-school, where I took lots of pictures (you have to click on the ‘Read the rest of this entry‘ to see all of them).
First I had to drop Anna off at her English school though, which meant that Bjarki and I were out and about way too early for his session. The only thing to do: stop by the local bakery and buy some bread and a ‘healthy’ (cough, cough) snack to munch on for a bit.

The sporty-school people had set up a course using almost the entire available floor-space today – usually they have the gray partition down and only use half of it. Daycare-doggy of course got to tag along inside.
Finnur took off today to remind his co-workers in California of his existence. Pretty much exactly when he was about to board the plane to Seattle, I went to fetch Bjarki from daycare. Nobody can live in the USA for an extended amount of time, and not grow to appreciate, and even love, Thanksgiving! It’s like Christmas, but without the stress of presents! 🙂
For us it was always a great opportunity to hang out with friends, and we’re very fortunate in that we belong to a group of ex-CA-ans who like to get together for the occasion. (This is basically the same group of people we sometimes went camping with in CA…)

This year, Lára and Halldór kindly offered to host again (not everybody can accommodate such a large group easily – we can really only do it during summer time when we can have people outside), and everybody signed up to bring something for the communal feast.

We got our first proper snowfall yesterday, and it’s finally cold enough outside for the snow to stick around for a bit. 🙂 Not surprisingly, Anna spent all of yesterday out sledding, even though the grass is only just barely covered with snow.
