Celebrating 20 Years Together
[Written 13 JULY 2014. We’re always a little behind.]
TWENTY YEARS AGO I gave Finnur a lift downtown where we meant to meet some friends and celebrate Independence Day. We never found our friends (this was before mobile phones), but instead went for a romantic walk around the pond which included the first hand-holding, and then I drove him to his grandparents’ house, where we hung out into the wee hours of the morning.
To celebrate the occasion, we went out to dinner downtown, and then walked down to the pond, where Finnur presented me with a can of pineapple! Or as I posted on Facebook: (6 images total)
Row, Row, Row Your Boat…
[Written 13 JULY 2014. What is time anyway?] This March I switched from doing mommy-gym to what they call the ‘Newbies’ (Grænjaxlar) at Boot Camp. (Lets take a short moment to marvel at the fact I enjoy the heck out of boot camp!) Now, seeing how I’m still in sorry shape, it took me aboutRead more
Guðrún Birna MBA
[Written 13 JULY 2014. With apologies for lateness.]
Guðrún, our massively awesome friend, graduated from the Reykjavík University MBA-program today after two years of bloody hard work. Congratulations Guðrún!!! (9 images total, the whole set can be found here – CLICK!)
Horse Camp – Summer 2014 Edition
[Written 13 JULY 2014. Groan.]
We decided to send the big kids to horse riding school this summer. Anna went for five weeks last summer, and Bjarki for one, and it turned out to be a no-fuss, no-muss experience, as in they didn’t whine about going or act up while there. (19 images total)
Emma ‘Paints’
[Written 13 JULY 2014. Blah.]
I pulled out some paints for Emma the other day, mostly just to see if she had reached the maturity needed to “paint” (aka ‘parental anxiety’). In short the answer was NO. It was a fun try though. (6 images total)
Family Members
[Written 13 JULY 2014. Yes, I took a blogging break. Deal with it.]
The auto-focus on my trusty 50 mm lens died this past October. When I finally got around to taking the lens in for repairs, I discovered that the cost of repairs almost equaled buying a new lens in the US. So that’s what we did. I also bought a lens hood to try and prevent the new lens from dying like the old one did. Here are the first few photos taken with the “new” lens (10 images total)
New Toy
[Written 17 June 2014]
It’s been a loooong time since I added anything to my lens “collection” of three lenses. Well, thanks to my dear hubby and a past birthday wish, I now have FOUR lenses. The newest one can do this (while being HANDHELD and NOT ON A TRIPOD LIKE IT SHOULD BE or even remotely activated) (4 images total)
A Lovely Day Out in the Country
[Written 15 and 17 June 2014]
The Saturday was even sunnier than the Friday, and I may have indulged in my first no-child-responsibility nap in a loooong time. But the camera also came out for a little bit. (31 images total)
Gorgeous Day
[Written 15 June 2014]
The weather forecast for the weekend was amazingly fabulous (20C/68F and sun!!!).
Finnur’s parents had kindly invited all of us to join them in their summer house by Laugarvatn, so I spent pretty much the entire Friday morning packing things (so much Fun with a trailing toddler intent on touching everything), and quickly feeding the kids before locking up the heading out with the lot of them to run final departure errands around noon. School Ends and Inline Skates Appear
[Written 13 June 2014]
School was formally ended on this mostly gorgeous Thursday. The formalities didn’t begin until 2 pm, so before the hoopla began, I decided to use the 20% day-long sale going on in our neighborhood shopping mall and get the kids inline skates for summer.
After we returned from the school the kids excitedly put their skates on, and surprised me by staying on them for an hour, then taking a break for dinner, and then going back out to practice in the gorgeously still and mild evening.
(It seemed like the ski lessons they took in February really helped them figure the skates out. Yay!) (18 images total)
