Days #12-14 in CO: Zip-lining, Tea Factory & Going Home
[Photos taken on 23-26 July 2018, posted on 26 January 2019. Gorgeous snow outside, took the younger ones out sledding today. ]
Our last two full days in Colorado were spent visiting a couple of activities, a zip-lining house, and an actual tea factory! Then it was all of a sudden time to go back home!!! (55-ish images)

Days #10-11 in CO: Farmer’s Market, Rec Center Swimming, Longmont Museum & Sopapillas
[Photos taken on 21-22 July 2018, posted on 19 January 2019. Actual snowfall this morning, it’s white outside. Hope it lasts. ]
We kept trying out local activities: revisited the farmer’s market just to buy another box of peaches, went to the surprisingly good indoor swimming pool in the recreation center, checked out the Longmont Museum, and then gorged ourselves on sopapillas, Augusto’s specialty! (45-ish images)

Days #8-9 in CO: Horsetooth Reservoir Swimming, Sofas, Shopping & More Climbing
[Photos taken on 19-20 July 2018, posted on 17 January 2019. Winter is here at long last. Not sure how long it will last.]
We happened to be in Colorado at the same time as some other old friends from California, and were lucky enough to be able to hang out for a day with them. They knew of a great beach by a reservoir a short distance away from where they were staying in Fort Collins.
The day after we re-arranged sofa pieces, went shopping for a bit, and then visited the climbing area in the local recreation center for the first, and not the last time, as the younger kids fell in love with climbing with ropes. (30-ish images)

Days #6 & 7 in CO: Tubing, Ikea-ing, & Trampolining
Photos taken on 17-18 July 2018, posted on 13 January 2019. Fiiiinally have freezing temps outside, and a whole week of frost ahead of us.. in January.]
We ventured into Boulder to ride down a river in large inflatable tubes. I was the designated driver, but the tube-riders had mixed reactions ranging from mostly fun to terrifying. It probably didn’t help that there wasn’t a whole lot of water in the river, and Finnur sported some very impressive bruises for a few days after.
The next day was designated a ‘quiet’ day, so Augusto and I spent a bulk of it in the Denver Ikea. The kids were bored though, so they ended the day in a trampoline park. (40-ish images total)

Day #5 in CO: Museum Day
[Photos taken on 16 July 2018, posted on 10 January 2019. Spring weather conditions continue in January. Heard birds singing in pitch darkness at 7 am this morning.]
This was deemed a good day to visit a large museum: The Denver Museum of Nature & Science. It was yet another very warm day, so it was nice to spend it indoors. (25-ish images)

Day #4 in CO: Climbing, Cafe-ing, & Chilling
[Photos taken on 15 July 2018, posted on 6 January 2019. It’s the last day of the yule season, and the weather has decided to grace us with a little bit of snow for a few hours.]
The weather was rainy, so we found a climbing gym nearby to let the kids spend some energy. Since I have too many not-quite-good joints, I opted for a cafe-trip downtown instead. The rest of the day was spent lounging. (15-ish images.)

Days #2-3 in CO: Hiking, Google, Farmer’s Market, Shopping & Creeking
[Photos taken on 13- July 2018, posted on 5 January 2019. It’s been ridiculously warm outside since the new year started, next predicted frosty spell is 13 January.]
As we slowly adjusted to the time difference we went on slightly larger adventures.

Toothless & Almost on Vacation
[Photos taken on 01-09 July 2018, posted on 31 December 2018. Snow lost the battle with rain and warmth.]
While we were catching our breaths after the madness that was June, Emma lost her first tooth, we celebrated by visiting the farm animal & family park, I hid at various cafes, the grass got moved, we summer-housed more, and hair got cut, as we mentally prepared ourselves for going on summer vacation for real! Our Very Own Summer House
[Photos taken on 09-17 June 2018, posted on 29 December 2018. We finally got a touch a frost, and an inkling of snow.]
We now own a summer house. It’s been a long time coming, with both of us following summer house listings for over a year. Yes, we’ve been quite happy with the summer house Finnur and his siblings inherited from their grandparents, but as all the kids have gotten bigger, space has gotten smaller, and fitting everyone in was getting increasingly difficult.
So, we bought a house. It’s in the west of Iceland, has three bedrooms, a potential for a fourth, and very unusually, it has a huge garage, or “recreational room with a large door”, as it’s formally known. We decided this would be a great room to have kids hang out in, and so far it’s worked out well. (65-ish images total)

April Solo Parenting Part 1/2
[Photos taken on 20 – 25 April 2018, posted on 16 November 2018. After a few frosty days, we are back to warm weather, with lots of rain, and wind.]
The day after the big confirmation party, Finnur took off on a 10-day-long work-trip to the UK. While he was away I held down the fort the best I could, with minimally exciting dinners, and early bedtimes for all.
We did a bunch of things though. For example, Bjarki participated in a gymnastics meet, we met visitors from the US, went out in the country, met with family and friends, went swimming, and did what needed to be done so that everybody was clothed and fed! (45-ish images total)
