Day Off, Pink Paint, and Unstable Weather
[Photos taken on 02-04 April 2018, posted on 22 October 2018. Wrote this post at home. That hasn’t happened in a long while, but now I’m late in going to bed. Boohoo!]
The first few days of April. We had an extra day off, Emma played with pink paint, the weather was non-stable, and I mulled what to do about that wall in the backyard… (22 images total)

Easter Day 2018
[Photos taken on 01 April 2018, posted on 17 October 2018. We’re now waking up in darkness, and it’s getting dark around dinner time. Sigh.]
Easter 2018 happened to land on April’s Fool’s Day. [Insert inappropriate joke here]. It was an Easter Day “by the book”, as I discovered last year, see HERE, when I cataloged the last 15 years of Easter Day! (61 images total!)

Pre-Easter People Gatherings Galore
[Photos taken on 28-31 March, posted on 14 October 2018. My cold is slowly getting better. Also, now I’m hooked on The Good Place, and excited for Doctor Who again. Been a long time since I’ve been emotionally invested in TV-land.]
The very end of March coincided with the beginning of the long Easter holiday, where Thursday-Monday are all public days off.
Smartly, people use those days for celebrations, and general outings, and this year was no exception. We went to a birthday party, a confirmation party, and drove to Laugarvatn to stay at Finnur’s parents’ summer house with friends. All in all a very good use of days! (38 images total)

March 2018: Annual Ball, Spring Cleaning, Biking, Fine Eating, and Walking
[Photos taken on 17-27 March, posted on 13 October 2018. i am drowning in a nasty cold and coughing a lot. Whining about it too.]
March came along with ever increasing daylight, which was much appreciated as always. Highlights were the annual ball, Emma learning to bike, extra energy due to more sunlight, and various out and abouts. (37 images total)

Winter Worktrip #3 to Freezing Canada – Vancouver Day 2
[Photos taken on 11-12 March, posted on 06 October 2018. First real low pressure area of the autumn crossing over our heads with loud winds and sprinkles of snow.]
My plane to Iceland left late in the afternoon, so I had the entire morning to wander around Vancouver. I finally managed to visit the observation tower, and also walked around “Gastown”. (56 images total)

Winter Worktrip #3 to Freezing Canada – Vancouver Day 1
[Photos taken on 10 March, posted on 03 October 2018. Managed to buy a top on sale today.]
Photos from my journey back to Iceland from the Edmonton-area, via Vancouver. My coworkers and I all split up on arrival in Vancouver, as some had friends to visit, and another had to hurry home a day early. I went shopping, out to dinner, walked about a bit, and then zzzzz… (35 images total)

Winter Worktrip #3 to Freezing Canada – Yet Again!
[Photos taken on 03-08 March, posted on 02 October 2018. Back in Iceland after a long weekend in Edinburgh with my sewing club.]
The third and last of my Canada work-trips this winter began on our wedding anniversary. Very romantic… not!
This time I flew through Vancouver both ways, only stopping for a few hours on the way there, but spending almost 24 hours on the way back. Here are photos from the trip there, and my stay in Spruce Grove, which was mostly comprised of work, eating, and a few walks. (36 images total)

My 41st Birthday!
[Photos taken on 01-02 March 2018, posted on 28 September 2018. Writing this post at the Wellington Coffeehouse in Edinburgh! ]
For my birthday Finnur organized eating out with Adda and Halli. We landed smack in the middle of the Food and Fun festival (as usual for that time of year) which meant a fixed menu, with optional roasted insects (crunchy but surprisingly edible). (8 images total)

February Comes to a Rainy Close
[Photos taken on 21-28 February 2018, posted on 21 September 2018. I’d forgotten how cold 4C/39F feels…]
Leaving the UK without Finnur was less successful life-wise (for me) than joining him in the UK, and then all of us traveling back to Iceland together. Also, the weather didn’t help. But, you live, you learn. (28 images total)

February Winter-Break UK Trip – Part 2 of 2
[Photos taken on 18-20 February 2018, posted on 20 September 2018. The room off our foyer is now usable, and Finnur’s finished building the wall in the backyard!]
A very long time ago, I almost bought tickets to see Matilda the Musical when it was still in pre-sale, and not yet a huge hit that was impossible to get tickets to. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get the tickets, but now that it’s been running for close to a decade (!!!), demand had gone down enough that I managed to score great tickets on short notice.
For our UK Sunday then, I took the big kids up to London to first visit my brother Pétur and his family, where we happened to stumble upon my brother Nökkvi who was there for a short visit. Afterwards we made our way to London proper for a showing of Matilda and we had a great time! (A few months later I learnt that the musical is coming to Iceland this winter!!!) While we were gallivanting around London, the rest of our crew went on a train ride of their own.
On the Monday we finally made it to the toboggan run, and then Tuesday it was time to fly back to Iceland, leaving Finnur behind for the remainder of the week to work with real live colleagues. (44 images total)
