Random Happenings of Early October 2018

We mostly took it easy as October got off the ground, but did manage to go out to dinner with friends (using almost expired gift-cards!), to visit house #2, keep the kids alive and mostly happy, and go to the gym a bit. (40-ish images)

September Gatherings

The first two weekends in September involved a lot of people gatherings. There was a birthday, an unusually social Pokemon Go event, rarely-seen-uncle festivities, and dinner with friends.
In between, Finnur kept working on the eternal back-yard wall, and the weather kept being nice but chilly, so we began buying winter shoes. (30-ish images total)

Between Vacation and a Work-Trip

Getting back into the rhythm of work took a bit of time and energy. School started up again, as well as music lessons and sports. Emma finally got into gymnastics at the local club after being on waiting list for over a year, and we were visited by old CA friends we hadn’t seen in over 10 years!
The week before I was scheduled to go on a work-trip abroad, I got hit by a naaasty stomach bug, so that took a toll as well. (20-ish images total)

Readjusting to Iceland

The first few days after returning from Colorado were intentionally left rather quiet. Finnur kept working on the back-yard wall, as well as getting one year older, the kids hung out with their friends, and uh, I visited cafes in large quantities. We did manage to visit grandparents, the library, and celebrate a birthday though.

Uncle Arnar Turns 50!

Somehow, my uncle Arnar (who is only a hop and a skip older than I am) is now 50 years old! To celebrate, he hosted a small get-together with the closest family members and some friends. (24-ish images total)
A Theatrical April Week

April trudged onward with more sunlight, and the promise of spring.
Gathering these images today, I only just realized what a crazy week this was, with sporty school, friends visiting, hanging out with family, Anna acting in a school play, and attending a big ball, us going to see Rocky Horror, Bjarki managing to score a big bump on his head, and the tree trimmers finally having time for us. February Winter-Break UK Trip – Part 2 of 2

A very long time ago, I almost bought tickets to see Matilda the Musical when it was still in pre-sale, and not yet a huge hit that was impossible to get tickets to. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t get the tickets, but now that it’s been running for close to a decade (!!!), demand had gone down enough that I managed to score great tickets on short notice.
For our UK Sunday then, I took the big kids up to London to first visit my brother Pétur and his family, where we happened to stumble upon my brother Nökkvi who was there for a short visit. Afterwards we made our way to London proper for a showing of Matilda and we had a great time! (A few months later I learnt that the musical is coming to Iceland this winter!!!) While we were gallivanting around London, the rest of our crew went on a train ride of their own.
On the Monday we finally made it to the toboggan run, and then Tuesday it was time to fly back to Iceland, leaving Finnur behind for the remainder of the week to work with real live colleagues. (44 images total)

February Winter-Break UK Trip – Part 1 of 2

I think this was the first winter where we went to the UK for both winter breaks (2 days off, adjacent to a weekend). It so happens that Finnur’s working closely with people in London these days, so it made sense for him to spend a week working there, and why not get a change of scenery for the rest of us along the way? So to the UK we went! Again! (29 images total)

Emma Ósk Turns 5 Years Old

Emma’s fifth birthday landed on a Monday, and we decided to have a party for her at home after work ended. It was a party of the super easy kind, where we ordered pizza, and I think Anna even made the cake! (11 images total)
