Triple Birthday Party
[Photos from 20-22 December 2018, posted online on 13 June 2019. It’s been crazy sunny lately, and not a drop of rain for 3 weeks. Weird.]
Like in previous years, we held a joint birthday party for the three cousins, Anna, Ylfa, and Iðunn. It was just a quiet family affair, as the big event of Christmas was looming right around the corner.
The following days were the calm before Yule-day. Sort of… (25-ish images total)

Hildur Sif’s Confirmation Party
[Photos taken on 19 April 2018, posted on 03 November 2018. Second swimming pool visit this week today, yay!]
After a photography lull (what a long long winter!), I decided to bring my gear to Hildur’s confirmation party. Anna and Halli had managed to reserve a really nice gathering hall through Halli’s worker’s association, which made everything easier.
I took about a gazillion photos that day, and some 300 were deemed ‘ok’. Here are some of them! (55 images total)
Uncle Arnar Turns 50!
[Photos taken on 15 April 2018, posted on 02 November 2018. WordPress has some new editor, which may or may not break the site.]
Somehow, my uncle Arnar (who is only a hop and a skip older than I am) is now 50 years old! To celebrate, he hosted a small get-together with the closest family members and some friends. (24-ish images total)
Easter Day 2018
[Photos taken on 01 April 2018, posted on 17 October 2018. We’re now waking up in darkness, and it’s getting dark around dinner time. Sigh.]
Easter 2018 happened to land on April’s Fool’s Day. [Insert inappropriate joke here]. It was an Easter Day “by the book”, as I discovered last year, see HERE, when I cataloged the last 15 years of Easter Day! (61 images total!)

Season’s Greetings!!

Birthday Party at Steinunn’s
[Photos from Sunday 3 April 2016, put online on 5 April 2016. Politics in Iceland are insane right now. The mind boggles.]
It was a mostly quiet weekend. On Saturday I drove for the first time in about three months!!! To celebrate, I took Anna on a slow shopping trip for some outdoor equipment for the school trip she’s on all this week, and we also made a library run. Then we all spent the evening with some good friends.
Sunday was pretty quiet, but we did attend the birthday party of Steinunn and Einar’s one year old boy. (5 images total)
(After the party Iceland’s version of the Panama Papers reveal was broadcast, and the entire nation gasped. It’s been a wild ride since.)
Easter Day 2016
[Photos from Easter Sunday 27 March 2016, posted online 31 March 2016. We just finished all the chocolate.]
Easter Sunday began unusually calmly, as the smaller two kids seemed happy to hang out in computer-land for most of the morning, or until the resident teenager woke up around 10 am. The kids then hid our eggs, we hid their eggs, and chocolate bunnies, and then we all overdosed on chocolate.
Around lunchtime we went to Finnur’s parents’ place to eat good food, enjoy good company, and play social whist. Bjarki participated in the whist for the first time, and handled it well, although he joined his grandparents near the bottom of the final score pile. Finnur was victorious though, just like last Easter!
Here, have some photos (33 images total) or if that’s not enough, HERE ARE ALL OF THEM.
Confirmation Party – The Arnar Version
[Photos from 24 March 2016, posted online 25 March. Progress?]
Today we attended the confirmation party of Arnar, the son of some friends of ours. It was a lovely party, and we had a great time. (Meanwhile, my brother Bjarni was competing in men’s physique, and he won his category! Yay for him!!!)
Usually I end up being a photographer at events like these, but since I can’t really walk about, I decided against taking my big camera. Alas, because apparently I can’t help myself, I still ended up snapping photos on my phone. (15 images total)
New Years Party
[Photos from 2 January 2016, posted on 3 January 2016. Newsflash!]
It’s become an annual tradition in one of my sewing clubs that one member hosts a fancy sit-down dinner for all members and their spouses. This year it was finally our turn, and that meant a lot of head-scratching as to how we were going to fit 15 people into our relatively small living space.
But, it all worked out somehow, and a great time was had by all! It is entirely possible the last guests departed around 4 am… (Photos added 24 January, now there are 6 photos total)
New Year’s Eve – 2015 Edition
[Some photos from New Year’s Eve 31 December 2015, pre-and post-midnight. Put online on 24 January 2016. The snow seems to be retreating a bit, I can see grass.]
We spent this past New Year’s Eve with Finnur’s family, as has been our habit lately. This year, Finnur’s uncle and his wife hosted a lovely party, a hop and a skip away from us, with tons of fantastic food.
Shortly before 9 pm, I dragged a few people (mostly kids) with me on a short walk to check out two ‘proper’ fireworks-displays. They’re hosted by the ICE-SAR units in Kópavogur and Garðabær, respectively, and always feature the big-bada-boom fireworks. It so happens that if you stand on the ridge that separates Kópavogur and Garðabær, you can watch the two shows.
Back at the party, we chatted more, ate more, and watched the annual comedy hour, which was somewhat meh this year. Then it was 23:30 and we went outside to shoot up some fireworks and witness the neighbors go bonkers with theirs.
All pretty standard stuff, but it was fun anyway! ALL THE PHOTOS ARE HERE, if anybody’s interested. Here are a few as well: (28 images total)
