Soccer Mom
[Written 27 August 2013]
We’re trying to sort out what after-school activities Anna and Bjarki’ll be doing this winter. Bjarki’s been signed up for gymnastics again (good overall gross motor skill training, last year he learnt to do a headstand against a wall, and to jump on one foot) but we’re thinking of delaying any swimming until he’s more settled into school. So far no musical stuff for him, school for realz and gymnastics twice a week is plenty for now.
Anna meanwhile is contemplating swimming and team handball except the schedules for those two clash somewhat, so we’re not sure what will happen. Oh, and I think she’ll do at least one more year of piano… she’s getting a new teacher, so we’ll have to see how that goes.
Anyway, as a result of Bjarki going to gymnastics, and Anna testing out a team handball practice in the total opposite direction, I felt like a true Soccer Mom, basically shuttling kids to and fro for over two hours. I did fit in a grocery run, so it wasn’t a total wash, but I think we’ll have to try and bring public transport into the mix in the future.
