Quiet Weekend
This was the last weekend before Finnur would return to work. Yup, we splurged on a four-week long paternity leave for him! Originally it was only supposed to be three weeks, but we were both exhausted at the beginning of last week, I was barely walking, and the kids were about to have a mid-week staff day, so we extended it by a week. He still has two more months he can take off, but he would not be getting paid as much as usual, so it’s financially a little difficult (he got two weeks off with full pay from his employer, the rest is covered by the relatively poor Icelandic Maternity/Paternity Leave Fund).
The weekend was mostly quiet. Inga and Steinunn dropped by for a visit on the Saturday while we just hung out solo on the Sunday, seeing how I ran into a tired-wall, and spent the entire day in bed pretty much.
The nights have been vary variable so far, with one night with a five hour long nap (although I woke up after three hours, because I’m trained like a dog) and another where she was up for two hours, and woke up every two. Yes, the little one has yet to settle on a routine of any kind, so we’re just playing it by ear. This too shall pass, etc. etc… 🙂
