Internet Throttled
At 17:30 today, our internet service provider found we’d hit our limit for ‘foreign internet’ this month and started throttling our connection to the world. Usually they’d just slap a charge on us and add 10 GB, but I guess it was too close to the end of the month for that? Or so I hope because getting charged extra AND getting throttled would suck!
Bjarki was at that moment watching a YouTube video (Pink Panther!), and boy was he upset when none of my usual tricks of reviving his beloved internet worked, because I had no clue what had happened. If they send out notices, it must be to some address we don’t use…
When Anna got home, the kids ended up watching How To Train Your Dragon on DVD, while I cooked an utterly uninspired, but very well received dinner (boiled cod, with boiled potatoes, served with ketchup and some veggies).
Right about the time dinner was ready, Bjarki started moaning on the couch that his left ear hurt (and not the right like earlier), and sure enough, his fever had also spiked. That prompted a new dose of ibuprofen, but he still spent dinner in utter misery as we waited for the medicine to kick in. And sadly, the fever felt high enough that I’m guessing he won’t magically be better tomorrow for the annual Yule-tide ball at his daycare. 🙁
With regards to the internet, it wasn’t until after Anna was in bed that I figured out what had happened, and now I’m counting down to midnight (45 minutes left now!) for the counter to magically (hopefully) reset.
