New Neighbors!
I’m too lazy to fetch the big camera and upload pictures from it (via a CABLE!) so here’s a photo from my phone taken today. Yes, my lovely phone automatically uploads pics to Google+ when on a WiFi connection, and I’m contemplating holding off on upgrading my Canon beast until it can do the same! Grumble!
Other than that we’ve had lots of more-or-less relaxing days since arriving from our northern trip. The hot tub is operational (!!!), Finnur’s been busy during the fantastic weather days staining the endless miles and miles of wood we have in our yard (ugh, and don’t forget the windows and doors that need staining too!), my cousin Ríkey’s come over a couple of times to help me sew curtains for the living room (as in, she tells me what to do, and then she does the actual sewing, while my contribution is to chatter inanely in the background) , uh, and uh… I do believe I’ve done a bit of weeding and pruning in the yard.
Contrary to my fears of all of us going bonkers within a few days with no daycare and two energetic kids, it’s actually worked out really nicely. Bjarki’s been at home for over a week now, and he’s basically kept himself entertained by seeking out various other boys in the street to hang out with, or just biking or scootering up and down the street. We have his classmate who lives in the house opposite to ours, there are twin-boys his age in the house next door (they have a huge trampoline!), and a boy who’s one year older in the house next to that one. He’s almost been more social than Anna even!
Which sorta leads to today’s biggest news: We have new house-neighbors! Yes, a new couple has just finished unloading their container of stuff into the other half of our house, and have brought with them twin-boys born 2004 and a boy born 2009. This ups the number of twins in the street to two (or three if you count Bjarki) and promises even more fun times ahead. They seem very nice, and I set the standards for home-visits ridiculously low by inviting the wife to tour our side of the house (which is quite different) with the house a total mess. Yes, toys and stuff everywhere, kitchen needing attention, don’t even mention the stairs, the laundry awash with clothes, etc, etc.
I hope that was a smart move. 🙂
