[Photos taken 15 August 2025, posted online 11 October 2026. Just completed first week of going out for 3 runs (instead of 2) per week, and find myself taking stock of various aches and pains. Peak middle age, right here.]
We again split ourselves into two groups. I took the newbie-Danes shopping (we found a bike for Anna, yay!), while Finnur took the younger two biking through Dyrahave, and spent the day doing rides at Bakken.
We tried to meet up there at the end of the day, but they had just biked back, so the three of us did some Bakken rides before going back home.
Friday 15 August 2025
The weather was optimal, at 28C/82F. The whole area is a collection of low houses, very suburbian.
After trying to learn about which bike types were more reliable than others, we went to check out a bike for sale. Turns out the seller was a guy who likes to buy bikes and refurbish them, so it seemed in pretty good condition, and at a reasonable price. Yay, bike purchases completed!
The two bikes, basically parked in the weeds, as nobody wants to screw over the bees any more!
We walked to a nearby hole in the wall to get a late lunch.
With our wraps on some outside seating.
It felt almost Californian…
They had tried sleeping on the sleeper sofa, and to nobody’s surprise, found it a bit uncomfortable. To Jysk we went to get a top mattress to make things a bit more comfortable.
Inevitable posing by the Ikea-hand dressed up in a washing up glove.
Ah, greenery. Check!
Another Ikea handy-hand.
Finnur sent a photo to prove that the other kiddos were still alive and well!
When we finally made it to Bakken around dinner time, the others had just departed on their bikes.
We walked to where the loud thumping music/noise was coming from, and it was a DJ performing in front a large crowd! Turns out Bakken hosts concerts in the summer time, and the admission is free.
Interestingly, none of the concert-goers seemed to have any interest in the rides, so there were no lines. We got some tickets, and started trying the rides. This one was short and sweet and fun.
About to go on the large wooden roller-coaster.
Teeeeheeeheeeheeee!!
In line for the log-water-ride.
Animated gif of a slow motion video of the first drop in the log-ride…
Animated gif of normal speed the second drop (wait for it to load).
“Slightly” wet afterwards…
The concert ended while we were doing the rides, and all that was left was the clean up crew.
We’d lost track of time again, and just barely found a restaurant at the edge of the park that still had an open kitchen, but if we’d been 10 minutes later… no such luck.
The Bakken emptied out rather quickly afterwards, and we followed the stream of people to our car.
At home-base, I had unusually good luck in No Mercy, for at least a short moment…
