Arrival in Tenerife – Dream’s Jardin Edition

[Photos taken 21 March 2025, posted online 13 14 December 2025. This has been a week of massive rain and intermittent high winds, but right now it’s snowing which is brightening up the air as we endure the last week of shrinking daylight for a while.]

We decided to tag along with good friends, yet again, to visit Tenerife for a few days. With Finnur having a busy work-travel schedule ahead, we didn’t stay for very long. It was just us and two other couples, much like two years prior.

The ‘inside yard’ of our hotel in Tenerife, the “Dreams Jardín Tropical Resort & Spa“. This is my favorite Tenerife hotel out of the three I’ve tried.
There is a direct flight to Tenerife, which may explain why it’s so popular among Icelanders. It even has a non-insane departure time of 10 in the morning!
Heading up to security…
Behind us were the rainbow and the egg.
The “intellectual” table at the airport bookstore.
We had some epic frequent flyers among us that invited us into the Icelandair Saga Lounge.
Goodbye Iceland!
Flying “straight down” for five hours and change. Another factor in Tenerife’s popularity is that it’s on the same time-zone as Iceland. It matters surprisingly a lot!
I’m pretty sure this is the Western side of Tenerife
Looking north-ish, our hotel is there amongst the further-away houses. It only takes about 30 minutes to drive there from the airport.
Just a reminder that the southern point is essentially a desert.
Friendly smile!
Halli expressing his happiness at having arrived!
We took a taxi to the hotel, and found our room. It was lovely!
Lots of space.
First time I think I’ve had a ribbon tied around a toilet roll!
The view north from our “ocean view” balcony.
Looking “inland”, where the clouds tend to be.
The hotel is medium big, so it was good to get a map.
Making our way to the eating patio.
The landscaping in the yard was really nice, all the plants and little water-features made it feel very cozy.
We’d signed up for the “fancy club” so we had access to included afternoon refreshments.
Breakfast and afternoon refreshments were served from this area.
The hotel and “common area” swimming pool seen from the entrance to the bali-beds balcony area for the “fancy club”.
Enjoying the view from the bali-bed balcony!
Looking south along the shore.
Testing a cozy lie-bed.
The hotel is sneakily built on a steep hill, so the area closest to the sea is actually multiple stories “into the ground”.
One of the couples had accidentally accepted an emailed-upgrade-offer to a room that directly faced the sea, so we got to enjoy their view for one evening, before they moved to a more reasonable room the following day. The view included the gym that overlooks the ocean. Best. Hotel. Gym. Ever!
It’s hard to beat biking while looking at the gorgeous sunset…
I did a routine of my own. So nice after a long flight.
The guys tested all the cardio machines!
Indian restaurant for dinner, yum!
The “Icelandic bar” was right next door, but it had closed by the time we were done eating. We could hear Icelandic hollering while we were eating.
We found the back/sea-side entrance to our hotel…
So very pretty!!
The foyer was calm, as it was getting quite late.
How you know you’re no longer in Iceland!
