Sewing Club
The big event on Tuesday was my first hosting of a sewing club that I’ve belonged to for a decade, and got graciously invited to on our visits to Iceland for all these years. These are some lovely lady-classmates from Junior College (Menntaskóli) and friends from the University of Iceland, as well as some friends of theirs.
This sewing club has evolved over the years to serve a (light) dinner and then desserts, but since I’m not much of a cooking enthusiast (I’m a utilitarian cook) I coaxed Finnur into making seafood soup for dinner for all of us. I then supplemented with a ‘Hummingbird Cake‘ (which was cake of the day at allrecipes.com, but I used pistachios instead of walnuts) as well as crepes (‘pancakes’) that we put fruit, whipped cream and melted chocolate on. It was pretty good!
We chatted and chatted, and overall I’d say it went pretty well! Now I only have 8 months to plan the next one… 🙂
