Unusually busy Sunday
I have come to the conclusion that not teaching on Mondays is very good for my mental health. It makes the weekend so much more enjoyable since I don’t have to worry about Monday’s lecture – and then spend between 9pm on Sunday and 3am Monday actually writing said lecture. (Which is one reason why I’m already dreading the 5 weeks starting in mid-March where I’m supposed to be teaching two classes simultaneously… the new class is taught on Mondays. #Shudders#)
Anyway, today was a busy day for all of us! We began by dropping Anna off at Eyrún’s place for a little ‘girl-bonding-time’ while the rest of us headed to Finnur’s parents’ place. We left Bjarki there to go look at a nearby house, which was quite cosy, but the layout probably suits families with slightly older children better. We made a quick pit-stop at Finnur’s parents’ place again, before heading out to examine a second house. This house was more spacious and in much better shape (the new owners had put in quite a lot of work) but in a neighborhood where we don’t know anybody. Finnur liked the second house quite a bit, I was more ambivalent.
While we were house-hunting, the Annas went to go see a children’s play, and at 2pm it was time for Finnur to visit the ‘Everton-pub’ to watch today’s Everton-Liverpool match (final score: 2-2). While Finnur was cheering his team on, I took Bjarki to Holla’s place, where poor Ágústa was on day four of a really nasty case of chicken pox. Bjarki was vaccinated against chicken pox in the US and I had it as a child, so I figured we’d be ok. We’ll have to wait and see…
After the game was over we landed yet again at Finnur’s parents’ place, where I tip-toed into one of the bedrooms with a book and disappeared for a couple of hours of MEEEEE-time (oh, glorious MEEEEE-time!!) :). Meanwhile the other adults took care of the kids. Close to dinner I emerged to find that Finnur’s dad had recently transferred our wedding video to a DVD. The DVD got popped into the player, and sure enough, there we were, young and innocent (and skinny!) pledging to be ‘financially accountable’ (or something) to the magistrate. It was a hoot seeing all the guests from ten years ago!
Dinner was outstanding (as is Finnur’s dad’s custom) and we left fed and happy. 🙂 So yes, a busy day, but a good one. 🙂
