So Much Weeding & Staining

We took advantage of the amazing weather to work in the garden (me) and stain the woodwork of house #2 (Finnur). As it happens, Anna had to work at the horse-camp and there is no staining decks with kids around, so it worked out quite nicely.

To enjoy the last remaining weekend on vacation, we then drove to Finnur’s parents’ summer house at Laugarvatn for the long trade-holiday weekend. (30-ish images total)

Meanwhile, Finnur stained away up at house #2. That side of the house faces south, so the sun scorches it much more than the other sides.

For Anna’s last day at horse camp, she baked a humongous layer-cake for everybody!

Yay, she got to ride one of the horses for a bit!
Meanwhile, I finally worked up the nerve to tackle the weeds along the hedge. Sometimes the city work-school kids come and weed this side, but not this year.
I hope this yellow stuff isn’t bad for humans…
Bjarki was in dire need of a haircut, so I took him to be sheared.
This kid’s growing up!
Anna sent me a video of the horse carriages driving away with all the horses, who were finally about to go on a well deserved holiday.

My foot had finally recovered enough after the epic toe-bruising earlier in July for me to go to the gym for a bit.
Meanwhile, Finnur was using wood-staining as a workout-method.
The lawn got mowed… (Such an exciting life!)

Saturday visit to one of the local cafes, for a little meeee-time.
People moving into the apartment blocks that have risen in the neighborhood adjacent to ours. It’s good to see it coming to life.
Then it was back to weeding. I managed to get Anna to quickly remove all the flowering weeds in the upper area. Containment, you see!

By four pm we were all packed, and made a quick pit-stop before heading all the way to Laugarvatn, to spend the rest of the long weekend with Finnur’s parents.

Finnur made it at long last, after a fair bit of driving. Mountains really put a damper on possible driving routes!
