Florida Days #4-5: Go-Kart & Tree-Climbing

We made a conscious decision to not go to any of the big parks over the weekend, instead going to smaller venues to avoid people-traffic. (I really dislike crowds, and try avoid them as much as I can!)

Instead we visited a small go-kart place that also had an alligator pit, and an arcade, and somehow managed to spend most of the day there.

The day after that we had an ‘early’ rise and went to a tree-climbing adventure park. We had a late lunch at Denny’s, and then the older females went and got manicures and pedicures! (40-ish photos total)

Earlier that day featured the usual pandemonium in the kitchen around lunchtime.
The go-kart place had an alligator pit, go-karts, and a games arcade. We subscribed to their email list and got an admissions ‘offer’ straight away.
The alligators weren’t very big though.
You got a bit of feed with the admissions ticket. The alligators took the bait before our drive, but seemed very full after we were done.
Emma and I shared a car, but Bjarki was big enough to drive his own!
Each car got 11 laps, here Adda is whizzing by.

The kids then walked over to try to feed the alligators again.
It was interested but not that interested.
Meh, we don’t want any more vitamins!
The admissions ‘offer’ also included arcade play.
A classic.
Half an hour later the alligators had begun sunbathing.
Everybody was getting hungry, so we walked to the next door McDonald’s.
Afterwards the kids tried feeding the lazy alligators again, but nah… nothing.
The drive home was full of stop-and-go traffic, as it was 6 pm, but at least the sky was pretty!
It’s hard to beat the USA when it comes to crazy.
We chuckled at this white sign every time we passed it… see below.

Getting belted up. I was Emma’s designated ground-bound adult, but Finnur geared up with the kids.

Getting a tutorial. The equipment setup was similar to other parks we’ve been to, but the lock-mechanisms were slightly different and a bit more difficult I thought.
Emma was just barely big enough to be able to go, but she did really well. Here she is on the tutorial-course.
The big kids were soon off, off, and away!
Emma had two courses to choose from, the second slightly more difficult than the first.
She mostly did really well, except when she ran into wildlife, such as a sunbathing lizard, and wayward spiders and/or their webs.
The big kids on their third or fourth course. They had to do them sequentially for some reason, and could only do each course once.
Bjarki attempted the hardest course but didn’t quite manage to complete it. It helps to be a bit bigger for those.
Afterwards we had a late lunch at Denny’s. Emma was desperate for a fancy balloon, so we relented, just this once. We were admittedly a bit shocked by how busy the fast-food places were for Sunday lunch, as we’d tried an IHOP prior to this place, and they weren’t even taking reservations, as there were so many people waiting.

Later that afternoon, the big girls got their wish, and we made an appointment at a mani/pedi place. When we arrived they were too busy, so we visited the next Starbucks to wait a bit.
It’s hard to pick a color!
The girls got fake finger-nails, and the mothers got their toenails fancied. Anna got a bit unlucky though because the lady that did hers was apparently pretty new, and took foreeeever to finish, and didn’t do a great job.

Another photo of the lovely Elsa at the end of the day. She seemed to be made of good stuff, as she lasted until it was time to go to Iceland!
