The latter half of October whizzed by, much like time in general these days.

I took photos of the autumn colors, the kids played, the bikes got studded tires in preparation for winter, Pokemon Go got played, the burnt building by work finally got some attention, I attended a women’s-protest downtown, we had waffles with Finnur’s family, visited house #2 with friends, and both kids attended Halloween parties!

Post-daycare play-ground pit-stop.
Google helpfully combined two photos of Emma for us, in their “Then and Now” feature.
Shortly before dinner-time Finnur and I participated in a special Pokemon-Go event.
It was held by the famous Höfði, where Reagan met Gorbachev in 1986.

This winter I tried to form a habit of doing some cardio on Saturday mornings. It’s gone relatively well. This was my first time trying to go above the default 30 minutes and I had to restart the counter as it just stopped after 30 minutes. Boohoo!
The girls and I did a library run downtown in the afternoon.
Finnur cleaned the deck as the muddy pile was finally gone.
A surprise visitor showed up for dinner!
The fully formed (but slightly sickly) skeleton, ready for a Halloween party.

Finnur and I began the day on a romantic cruise around the harbor area for a Pokemon-Go event.

At 2:55 p.m on this day, women in Iceland walked out of their workplaces to head downtown to protest gender income inequality and violence and harassment in the workplace. If you take the gross numbers, then women earn 74% of the total pay of men. Yes, the hours are different, but that’s part of the problem ain’t it? (And even if you take the hours into account, there’s still a difference.)

As the even dragged on, people began leaving due to the bitterly cold wind, so I moved closer to the stage for the final choir performance.

With the media hoopla, somebody came forward to say that insurance matters had just been finished, and that they could now start clearing the debris.

We visited house #2 with some friends.
Playing with Emma.
We discovered that when the wind blows a certain way, the chimney starts clanging loudly. This is Finnur trying to minimize the clanging. We did find a better way later.

When I got home, Anna was putting spooky makeup on Bjarki for a Halloween party at school.

At dinner time we discussed how Bjarki looked a lot like Uncle Fester with his vampire mouth and cape off. It was pretty funny!
