Readjusting to Iceland

The first few days after returning from Colorado were intentionally left rather quiet. Finnur kept working on the back-yard wall, as well as getting one year older, the kids hung out with their friends, and uh, I visited cafes in large quantities. We did manage to visit grandparents, the library, and celebrate a birthday though.

I ate lunch at the Cafe Laugalækur. They also run a hostel, so there’s always lots of foreigners there. They also have more places to plug in a laptop than the closest chain cafe!

Emma had made a picture for her grandma Ásdís, and insisted on hand-delivering it. We happily obliged!
Emma always insists on a demo of the old clock chiming. Mom will have to correct me here if I’m wrong, but this clock belonged to Pálína, her paternal grandmother (and thus my great-grandmother), who was born in 1894.

Bjarki that evening, discovering he has a loose tooth. He’d run the GungHo obstacle course with his friend earlier in the day, and had a good time!

It was Finnur’s birthday, so Anna decided to bake a cake. Emma insisted on helping.
Outside it was crazy warm!
