Winter Worktrip #3 to Freezing Canada – Vancouver Day 2

My plane to Iceland left late in the afternoon, so I had the entire morning to wander around Vancouver. I finally managed to visit the observation tower, and also walked around “Gastown”. (56 images total)

Spooling back to the start of the day. Early morning breakfast, courtesy of the dinner place I’d gone to the night before!
I was perplexed by this arrangement of doors at the hotel. I sort of looks like you can rent three rooms at the same time, and only carry around one key?
Breakfast was at the hotel restaurant. I’d found some interesting breakfast places on TripAdvisor, but many of the reviews described long morning lines on the weekend, so I decided to lay low.

Taking photos of tall buildings with tiny cameras makes for sea-sicknessy images.
It was a gorgeous day. This is at 10 in the morning.

The other direction is a lot less interesting. I wish cities had nicer alleys.

I got a ticket.

The weather was perfect for being up there. I didn’t want to trouble the guide that was up there, but did end up listening in on her when more people came up. Sounded like this whole town was built by lumberjacks and miners?

Some of the buildings here had a lot of interesting history tied to them.

Back down on the ground, things were less fancy. This is right next to those train tracks.

As I walked into Gastown, I came up on a crow of people next to this smoking clock.
As the clock struck 11 am, it played a song, and the cameras went wild!

It was fairly early morning, but there were still people milling about.
I always do what I’m told.

This is as far as I walked, I had to get back to the hotel to check out and head to the airport. Notice the engagement photo-shoot in progress?

The airport was friendly.
I was a little (lot!) sad to discover that the trees were made of plastic.

4 pm take-off, goodbye Vancouver.
Oh dear, the plane is leaking… Went away pretty quickly.
The views from the window were beautiful.

No crashing… No crashing…
It took about 15-20 minutes to clear the mountains and then it was just plain plains forever.
Many hours later I landed in Iceland, and did NOT take a single photo at the airport. But I know I landed, and I made it home in one piece. Thus endeth the third worktrip to Canada this winter.
