[Photos taken 13 August 2025, posted online 03 October 2026. Perhaps it’s good to be somewhat behind in this day and age of insane processing speeds?]
We’d long planned to visit the Tivoli Gardens that day as a send-off for Anna’s “in-laws” who were returning to Iceland the following day. Unfortunately, Bjarki started feeling poorly around noon, so him and Finnur stayed behind, opting instead to rest after stressful days spent studying for exams.
This time around we didn’t arrive until quite late in the afternoon, which meant shorter lines, and pretty lights as the evening fell. Highly recommended, except be mindful of where and when to eat dinner…
A shelf installed by the desk. All the dimensions in the apartment were snug, only just big enough to squeeze things in.
We were having lunch in the Lyngby mall when Bjarki started noticing he wasn’t feeling well.
Yummy crepe!
The main reason for going to the mall was to pick up this cast-iron Lodge pan that had arrived in the mail.
On the tiny stovetop in “the kitchen”.
Later that afternoon we’d made it to downtown Copenhagen, and this sign helpfully told us the Easypark app had already camera-signed the car into the carpark. I’ve since learned the hard way to remember to remove rental cars from the app, or I end up paying for parking for others!
Tivoli excitement mounting, as I took a photo to remember where we’d parked.
We were right downtown!
A quick stop at the Tivoli customer service to enquire what to do about the tickets we’d already bought but wouldn’t be using. Turns out they’re good for a month, so they got used later.
Some ballet show was going on on the big lawn.
We were there fairly late in the day, so the lines weren’t that long.
This roller-coaster is short, wooden, fun, and cute.
Illegal memories.
Emma got to play a game, and lost spectacularly.
The Tik Tak ride was a hit with some and a not-hit with others.
When the others emerged unscathed, Anna decided to try it (I still didn’t). Here she is going to her doom.
They’re there somewhere.
Enjoying the scenery while waiting for the Dæmoners to be done.
Still alive!
They went again, so I waited some more. The lights really popped in the dusk.
Officially an expert!
We’d lost track of time, forgotten to eat, and the restaurants were all closed, as it was already 21:30. We decided to call it quits, and headed to the exit.
Cuties.
Proof I was there.
Trying to decide what to do about dinner, while posing every five steps.
We made it outside!
The only place that was still open was Burger King!
Well fed and well entertained.
There was some pride-themed event going on downtown…
A goodbye huddle, as the family was departing the following morning.
