Tenerife Bali-Bed Chillin’ / Visiting La Caleta

[Photos taken 22 – 23 March 2025, posted online 22 December 2025. My Christmas present to myself is a two week vacation over the holidays, yay!]

Seemingly having lost the ability to sleep in, I woke up bright and early on our mornings in Tenerife, hauled myself out of bed, and attempted to claim three Bali-beds in the fancy balcony-section. Then it was on to breakfast, followed by some serious lounging!

The first full day was pretty quiet, but on the second full day we acquired a mobility scooter, and went adventuring. We had a lot of fun walking northwards to La Caleta, and then I decided to jog back, which went well most of the way until my Achilles tendon suddenly had enough.

Success! Three bali-beds reserved via towels!
The breakfast buffet was very nice!
A lovely start to the day.
The south-view from the fancy-club Bali-bed balcony.
The “general population” swimming pool area.
As a fancy-club member we had access to the snack and drinks bar which was open pretty much the whole day. The frappuccino-machine output was particularly dangerously delicious!
I went on a short walk southwards to poke my toes into the ocean.
Looking back. The Bali-beds are visible on the top white balcony.
I headed for that sheltered beach.
Hello sea!
The ocean there isn’t exactly super clear or blue, but neither is it very cold.
I found a spot a little further south where I could dry out my feet, while enjoying the sea playing on the rocks, and reading a book.
More palm trees on the way back.
Heading to the market to buy a few things.
We had a little photo game going to find the number 34.
Afternoon game-time!
I particularly liked visiting the gym when the sun was low in the sky.
They had a very decent selection of dumbbells.
Heading to dinner…
Yummy steak and mushrooms!
Time for some chatting and then bed.

Sunday 23 March 2025

A new day, and three Bali-beds toweled!
A very colorful breakfast. My omelet was being cooked! So spoilt!
An electric violinist played at breakfast!
Finnur lounging.
The book I was reading. It was ok, but the series went off the rails so much that I gave up on the third book.
A calm moment.
Checking in on the public.
What’s that sound…?
Ah, a saxophone player!
Walking out of the hotel to meet…
… our rented mobility scooter!
The path northwards is surprisingly hilly.
The happy-leg-man!
In familiar territory. Our previous hotels had been close to this area.
Finnur’s heel had been seriously bothering him for the better part of a year, so he was glad to rest it a bit on the scooter once in a while.
A reminder that the island is a volcanic one.
Still pretty.
Entering the fanciest area, judging by the foilage.
We lucked out and found a spot to sit down and refresh ourselves a bit.
Yet another beach, the Playa del Duque.
As you go further north, the beaches start getting blacker and coarser.
You can see the barriers out in the sea.
Us!
Some cairns…
All. The. Cairns!
Looking more and more desert-like.
An old building that still stands.
All of a sudden a paraglider came into view!
Fighting to get the sail down. He was successful in the end.
The long walkway along the blackest beach.
Entering the La Caleta section.
Happy leg man!
The colorful houses.
The restaurant area.
Finnur happy with his lobster!
I got a seafood pizza, yum!
The guardian out front.
At attention!
The buildings really hug the rocks.
Heading back…
A cat lady?
It’s really cool how the way up and down the entire coast is wheelchair accessible.
Still standing after slowly jogging most of the way back, but on one of the inclines my Achilles tendon said stop!
Our hotel, phew!
A sight for sore feet!
I spent the evening with my foot elevated, feeling mildly sorry for my middle-aged-self. Thankfully my leg mostly recovered overnight, and was much better the following day.
