Birthdays / Flowers / More Daylight

[Photos taken 01 – 08 March 2025, posted online 25 October 2025. Overnight frost has arrived, and thus bird-feeding has resumed.]

March is a birthday bonanza month. This time around I turned 48 years old, so I just have a couple of years to go until the big five-oh! We also belatedly formally celebrated Emma’s 12 year birthday, and mostly totally ignored our 25th wedding anniversary.

This first week of March was a mix of things, there was creme-puff-day, costumes for Ash Wednesday (now Halloween #2), an uncomfortable finger-ganglion cyst (mild yuk-photo warning), gym-sessions, and very suddenly a lot more daylight, but the frost held on.

Saturday 01 March 2025

Yours truly, somewhat awkwardly holding birthday flowers.
The day began, like so many Saturdays, at “my cafe”. It’s always a little unnerving to park in the lower section, as if the conditions are just freezingly right, getting tire-traction to get out of the lot can get iffy.
My me-time haunt.
At home I did a bit of knitting.
Emma busy making a cake for her own birthday celebration the following day!
Dinner served!
I got a present!
Watching a bit of youngest-brother and his band, The Zac Schulze Gang. It was extra fitting as his birthday was the following day!

Supplies acquired for a small birthday party.
Emma’s cake, by Emma, all ready!
Anna’s seedlings coming along nicely under the Ikea lamp.
I was in a mood for Icelandic pancakes/crepes, so I made some. Newest sneaky trick is adding a bit of avocado oil to the dough, it makes it stick less to the pan.
Ready for visitors!
Guests trickling in. It’s always a tight squeeze in our not very party-sized abode.
About to get sung to.
Cake on fire! Well, sort of.
It was a rainbow-sprinkle cake! Yum!
Another food photo.
The birthday-party-star.
The best seats in the house!
Dang, the kids are growing up so fast!
After our guests had departed, it was time to whip up some creme-puffs for creme-puff-day.
Crossing all fingers and toes that they’ll rise in the oven.
Looking good!!!
Success, yay! Thus concluded my part in the proceedings.
Decorated with chocolate, and fillings whipped up.
Yum!
All of a sudden the house was full of flowers!
Soft focus flower.

Monday 03 March 2025

Anna’s mini-sunflowers went a little bonkers, and grew way too tall, way too fast.
The creme-puff I chose from the selection at work was some sort of a caramel-blueberry-cream combo. It was good!
This day marked our 25th Wedding Anniversary, but we were both too tired after all the celebrations to add in yet another celebration.

Tuesday 04 March 2025

Sorry for no photo-warning, but my poor right pinky had sprung a joint-leak, much to my annoyance. The joint was apparently leaking joint-gel, making a “ganglion cyst” that I kept banging into things, which was darned painful.
Knitting was fine, thankfully.
Adding belt-loops from decommissioned pants to pants Emma wanted to use the following day, for her Ash Wednesday costume.
Bjarki and his buddies were going as minions! One of his friends 3D printed googly-eye-masks!

Emma as Kim Possible, the following morning.

Part 2.

Thursday 06 March 2025

Not sure what I was doing at the gym at 16:17, perhaps making up for missing a class, but it was all of a sudden very bright out!

Friday 07 March 2025

Friday funsies! Preacher curls keep a person humble.
Still daylight at 18:32, woop, woop!!

Saturday 08 March 2025

Brrrrr…. I’m thankful I have a warm house to live in!
Interesting frost formations on my car.
I went out for a walk that afternoon.
It was a gorgeous day to go swimming!
Heading back home, post-swimming. It was too warm to have a jacket on.
Operation “have Anna practice cooking before moving out” had started.
Noodles and beaten beef.
Emma being slightly suspicious of what big-sis had concocted.
It was yummy!
