Scout-Camp, New School, & 80th Birthday

[Photos taken 14 – 18 August 2023, posted online 01 June 2024. It keeps raining, but the weather remains mild. Shall we all be collectively shocked that it’s June already? Oh, and today Iceland elects a new president.]

School loomed as we returned from Finland, and it was also time to return to work. Bjarki’s new school started up that week, but Emma still had a week and a half to go, so she went to an all-day scout-camp with some friends. I can’t remember when Anna’s school restarted…

I took action to start Emma’s room’s reorganization, began visiting the gym again, but the work-week concluded with Finnur’s dad’s 80th Birthday and Party.

Emma walking with friends to the scout-home down in the valley, to start their week of day-camp.
We had a short parent-teacher-student meeting at Bjarki’s new school (3-ish-years long junior-college). I’d met the teacher during the open house in the spring (he supervises the “computer-line”) and he kept giving off fantastic teacher vibes! He went over the stuff that he takes the kids through, and I was all like… “yeah, those would all be good subjects for myself to formally study, as opposed to stack-overflow-stumbling-my-way-through them… 😅

I decided to act on rearranging Emma’s shelves and clothes-storage… but first I needed to go to Ikea to get that clothes rod. It was a game changer when I realized the location in the store is actually shown on the website. Yay!
Spotted a garbage-sorting-system sitting up on a wall. Since the entire capitol area had been summarily switched to sorting more, none of these items were actually in stock! I ended up signing myself up on the alert-when-it-arrives-list, and promptly arrived at least twice more to pick up the pieces as they arrived.
Gymming! Flowers outside! Yay!
Also took Bjarki out on a “relearn the optimized bike-route to the new school” trip.

My machine-friends that morning.
Spotted a cruise liner sailing behind Höfði while heading to a dinner with my co-workers.

Bjarki about to bike on the first day of his new school on our e-bike. He would go on to do really well!
That afternoon we celebrated Finnur’s dad’s 80th birthday, and of course the flag was up! The weather also dried up after raining all day, which fits the pattern of the weather always playing along on this particular birthday-party time.
By the table of food. Emma wasn’t feeling well, and got left behind at home.
It was a big party!
Finnur’s parents.
Party flower.
Brothers.
Father and son.
Proof I was there!
Presents!! Happy 80th Birthday!!
