Tenerife Couples-Trip: Jogs & Random Weather

After the big e-biking trip it was time to chill, or so I hoped. As it turned out, my nervous system was wired and jittery, so I tried calming it by going out on a jog. There was also a bit of shopping.

The weather was a bit tumultuous, swinging between blue skies, and a bit of rain even!

There’s a meme of sending Toe-pics from Tenerife, after the Governor of the Central bank blamed some bad economic news on Icelanders traveling abroad, siting all the “Toe-pics from Tene” on social media. On this day, we’d been too late to book Bali-beds the day before, so we had to “settle” for regular sun-beds by the platinum roof-top pool.
The swimming pool for the “regular” people, as seen from the roof-top deck. The small white building on the left is the elevator shaft to the lower levels. This was probably during the “fashion show” where a lovely lady walked from the tent on the far left over the bridge and back in various summer dresses, that were for sale. There was of course some music, and I vaguely recall the person standing in the middle of the bridge carrying an electric drum-set, and banging out some beats.
The hotel had 4 or some lower floors, the “main pool” was on top of those, and then there were additional 6-7 floors that rose from the main deck. The roof-top pool rose from the roof of a lower side building.
There was a need to buy new shoes (for example, the ones I’d brought were too small, thank you growing feet!) so three of us took a taxi to a nearby mall.
We walked back to the hotel, that way is all down-hill.
The front of the hotel, it’s shaped a bit like an arrow-head.
Back on the sunbed at 4:30 pm, enjoying some ice-cream.
By 6 pm I was going bonkers from not moving, so I went out for a slow jog along the coast, mostly to test if my legs could handle it. I was limited by time, because we had booked a table for dinner!
My route, I started at the south side. (Click on image for larger version)
There weren’t that many people about, but it was nice to revisit the places we’d been to on our earlier trip. This is where I turned back.
Sea and rocks. I think the hotel that’s on top of that area is a pricey one.
Looking over Fañabé beach. Our hotel was on the southern end of it.
Nice view from the hotel side-patio during a bit of a cool-down.
It turned out there was another hotel with flashy columns right above our hotel. Sure enough, it was from the same company, just not adults-only.
The most expensive dinner of the trip in progress.
One of the waiters cutting the meat by our table.
It was this kind of a restaurant.
Waiting for a taxi.
I had finally recovered enough to be able to play some cards in the evening. Here we’re playing Skyjo!
There was live music by the atrium every single night, and the quality was surprisingly high. You can tell we were some of the younger guests…
There were more people outside, a lot of them smoked.
This Beatles cover band went all in with multiple costumes. They were really good!
Sitting where there was plenty of light. The music was just in that room with a blue-ish glow behind our table.

The sky was blue at 10 am.
The clouds in the distance are lurking around another island, named La Gomera.
By 1 pm, clouds had rolled in and over us, dropping a bit of rain.
Waiting out the bad weather in our room.
By 5:30 pm, my nerves got the better of me, and I went out on another jog, giving myself a slightly longer time compared to the day before.
There’s funny name for these in Icelandic, something akin to tourist-droppings.
Looking northwards. I kept thinking it’s hard not to be a runner in that place!
Looking south from the same hilltop.
I doubled the distance from the previous day, and even set some personal records! (Click for larger version)
Before dinner we stopped at a seaside bar for some pre-drinks.
I decided to try the most flamboyant stuff. Sadly the looks were more impressive than the actual drink.
Photographing the photographers.
Pretty sunset, and La Gomera.
Finnur “marveling” at my seafood pizza.
That’s how you serve creme brulee!
The back of the hotel, forever picturesque, now with added moon! The most expensive rooms where on top of each side.
Skyjo time! This really is a great game!
That evening’s band was good enough to get people up and dancing!
