Do. All. The. Things. Part. 1.
[Photos taken 01 – 09 October 2022, posted online 11 June 2023. Have just returned from a fantastic whirlwind visit to California. ]
I had accepted a new job, that would be starting on 01 November. I therefore had a month to Do. All. The. Things. The first thing on the agenda was getting a new computer (as my old one kept flaking out), and attending a birthday party.

A visit to the swimming pool, check!
A chill birthday party, check!
A new computer, check!
Sigh. I’m so screwed.

Finnur putting the finishing touches on the new patio wall in the west end of town.
Excellent capping job!
While tidying up I took a photo of all the different ‘engineering’ paths available at Reykjavik University. One of them is just ‘make you own’.

The numbers indicate this lady had excess stress energy to burn off!
Proof it was me!
I decided I needed an “adult” laptop side-bag, as my fabric one was falling to pieces, and my family was a bit tired of the tourist-like various back-pack variations. Turns out the road in front of the store was being re-done from scratch. I think it’s meant to be a pedestrian-zone only.
Lunch at the next-door food hall. Good stuff!
Veggie status at home.
Trying to tame Emma’s fringe that she was growing out.
Reading up on WW2 to help Bjarki with his homework.

I confessed to a friend that I was exploding from anxiety over wanting to Do. All. The. Things. but not getting anything done because it seemed overwhelming, I kept forgetting things, and I was exploding from anxiety. She told me to go to a certain store, to buy a certain Dot Gridded notebook, and a certain type of pen, and write stuff down.
Ok, maybe I was getting more stuff done than I was giving myself credit for?

The view from the 3rd floor of Mjódd community center, over the see-through roof in the middle. This is now the location of the new Women’s Health Center .
I was there for a seminar on (peri)menopause. Here’s a slide on what increases a woman’s chance of breast cancer over the age of 50 (excess weight, alcohol, hormone therapy, smoking).
You can lessen your chances by working out and taking estrogen (only for those without a uterus).
(Peri)menopausal effects on health…
Positive things.
Ending words: Be kind to yourself.
Helpful notebook!
Still frustrating how much is unknown in this space.
Lunch and computer time.
I had all the time in the world to shuttle the kids to music practice, and do a little walking along the nearby river.
Nice views.
Autumn colors.
The fixed bridge still has a sign that says Dangerous Steps!

I dropped Bjarki’s laptop off for repairs, it had stopped charging reliably. Turns out the charging circuit soldering had broken, and they needed to order in a new piece.
I knitted a little table cloth from one of the yarns that I untangled from the big pile of tangled yarn.
A considerable time was spent copying photos from one laptop to another.
Sisters mucking about.
Encouraging words!

I managed to tidy up the “office”, it had been in shambles since a plumber came to renew the water-pipes to the kitchen.
Drove with these lovely ladies to Borgarnes for dinner, and then to the summer house for a cozy overnight-stay.
Yours truly with a funny hat.
Looking up the fjord.
Borgarnes is a nice town.
About to cross the bridge back to town proper.
At the summer house, the wind had loosened a board.
Evening snacks.

We’d decided this trampoline would be taken down and replaced the following summer, so I removed the surrounding circle and safety net to prevent it flying away, but left the rest.
Brunch being prepared. We packed up and headed to town, where a birthday party awaited.

I’m a convert to remote controlled light-bulbs. Yes, they are crazy expensive, but worth their weight in gold as I can control them while lying in bed, without getting out of bed!
Baking (not mine) in progress.
Being somewhat concerned seeing just how hot halogen lights get. Most of these had stopped working, or worked intermittedly. Lucky me had managed to find an electrician that would arrive two days later to fix this, and a myriad of other small problems.
Ugh. Not loving the blackened wood.
I pestered the owner of this camper to move it a bit, as it was taking up a precious 1 and a half parking space.
Sorry, not sorry, but it seems like one should occasionally remove the toilet seat in its entirety and clean where you usually can’t.
Much better!
Even better was that I threw out the old LOUD toilet seat and installed a “softly closing” one instead.
