Tenerife Lady-Trip: Golf Lesson & Resting

2021-12-01Tenerife Standard

[Photos taken 01-02 December 2021, posted online 02 April 2022. Spring is making moves towards dominance, the snow is finally gone, and temperatures have moved upwards a smidgeon. Went to see a comedy show last night in a packed auditorium, was fun!]

Us ladies got tempted by all the golf-bags that tumbled off the luggage conveyor in the airport, and booked a golf lesson at a nearby golf-course. We biked there, and then spent an hour whacking at a small ball with varying degrees of success.

The following day was spent resting and relaxing (except our energizer bunny went out on a jog, because that’s what energizer bunnies do!) (65-ish images total)

Middle aged woman attempting to hit a small ball in a gorgeous location.
Spooling backwards a little, this is us about to depart the hotel at 10 am.
Hildur looking at the maps app, to figure out where to go next.
Adda taking a breather, while we wait for Hildur on her non-e-bike to catch up with us at the top of a long sneaky incline. As it turned out, we’d missed the turn (it was a sneaky overhead bridge) and had to go back a bit!
Our bike-path southwards.
The golf course main building.
Such a polite Keep Out sign!
A highly manicured area! We wandered about trying to find the location of our teacher.
Bingo! We found the little area off to the side of where people were actively hitting balls.
I was the first student, and here I am trying to wrap my head around how to grasp the club. Not sure if I could replicate it now, as it involved a complicated interlocking of fingers.
Pretty area right behind me.
Soon Adda and Hildur got their starting lessons, and off we went whacking at small balls.
Hildur quickly proved herself to be the fastest physical study in the group, and got a lot of good whacks in!
Arty shot.
After whacking for an hour, we thanked our teacher and got him to take a photo of the three of us. Unfortunately, I managed to whack the ground at some point with quite a bit of force, which would come back to haunt me.
Heading back to the main building to get something to drink.
Adda attempted a contemplative image of yours truly.
Hildur trying to keep a straight face.
My phone camera sucks! Oh, and it started raining for a bit!
Biking back.
Hildur’s bike was a piece of junk (ours weren’t a whole lot better, but they did have functional motors and batteries!), and we had to stop to fix her chain that fell off. One of us (not me!) cleverly had a pack of baby wipes to clean dirty fingers.
Back at the hotel!
Adda was particularly pleased to make it back, as she has POTS, which makes any exercise a gamble, and overly difficult.
It was 1 December, so all of a sudden Christmas decorations sprung up everywhere!
Taking a well deserved break on the roof! The clouds had begun approaching our location, so it wasn’t quite as warm, but still nice.
Such a gorgeous sunset at 6 pm.
We managed to locate this somewhat hidden, but well-reviewed Italian restaurant and they had an empty table.
My dinner staple 🙂
Pleased with a good day.
We wandered along the beach in the darkness for a bit, enjoying the sound of the ocean.
Hildur kept fielding phone-calls from Iceland, she only barely got a passing grade from us in the “On a Vacation” category.
When we got back to the hotel, we walked in on two sweaty men doing acrobatics to pirate music! Yes, the hotel had some sort of entertainment every evening, usually somebody playing an instrument, or singing. We were quite happy that our rooms were about as far away from the central area as possible, as the quality varied.
We seemed to arrive close to the grand finale!
One ominous sweaty pirate approached Adda, and gave her a sword!
What do I do with this?!?!?
Putting on her best pirate face!!

Thursday 02 December 2021

This was a designated relaxation day, after all the action day before. In the morning, I walked along with Adda over to her massage appointment in the morning, and made an appointment for myself later in the day.
Walking to my massage appointment a few hours later, I passed these drink-laden trucks.
The world was softer around the edges after my thorough massage. Or maybe my lens was just a little dirty…
With the arrival of more “younger” guests, the sunroof got more crowded.
Floating is nice.
That late-afternoon we set out to eat dinner at sunset.
We walked past a cliff-face that had a little temple on top, probably attached to a large hotel a little further up. A group of men was getting their photo taken.
Our shadows.
Walking towards the nicer area along the beach (north-west).
Hildur had gone out on a jog earlier, and booked us a table here.
It overlooked a nice beach.
The sun setting.
Hildur at the golden hour. When we returned to our seats, we got scolded for jumping out of our seats and returning without putting our masks on. Tsk, tsk!
The pina coladas were tempting!
This place probably had our least favorite food of all the places we visited.
Adda has mastered the art of asking for more sauce/gravy!
The restaurant quickly became packed.
There was a live entertainer inside the courtyard of the place. He was pretty good.
Time to go!
High quality tourists!
Look, a palm tree!
Yours truly was wearing a dress!!
A quiet dark beach.
Heading back to our hotel. Hildur on the phone again.
Sooo… on our way back we walked past this small shopping center area, and spotted this ginormous “tree”…
I wanted to get a photo of Adda and Hildur and the entire tree, so I lay flat down on the ground and got a couple of photos. A minute later, some men in security clothing came running looking for the lady that “fell” (or had a stroke or something), and then began laughing as I explained that that had been me taking a photo… good times!
Leds galore!
Even our hotel had gotten in on the decorations, except seemed to have ordered two shades of white…
We came back so early that a game of Rummikub was in order. This is the ultimate loosing hand!
