Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021!!!

As per instructions from the Icelandic authorities, the new year’s eve party at Finnur’s parents was a lot smaller than in past years, but good fun was had nonetheless!

We were all excited to say goodbye to the general shit-show that had been 2020, and the annual comedy hour that evening (see youtube with English subtitles, recommend 11:57, and I identified so hard with 33:52) was the best it’s been in years, in my humble opinion. (35-ish images total)

Yay for 2021!
Actual guests!! And not my house!!

Fireworks from the yard! I moved a sun-brella stand down from the upper-yard, but managed to sort of drop it on my toe, and limped through the rest of the night. Thankfully the toe recovered quickly.
Emma got in on the write-with-star-lights-game.
There is a large empty area below the street, that is a popular venue for people shooting up large “cakes”.
I walked down to the area to see what was going on, and found a car and some people arranging fireworks and then BOOM!

The air was already beginning to muggy-up, and it was only 22:15 (10:15 pm)!
Then it was the annual comedy hour, and then some more fireworks!

Finnur got to light one himself. The younger kids now insist on lighting most of them.

We managed to round of four of us for a 2021 photo, Emma had escaped inside.
Burn baby, burn! I made it a mission to try and burn most of the tiny star-lights, as we tend to forget them and they end up in our garage for years on end.
