[Photos taken 12 – 13 April 2020, posted online 04 October 2020. Covid-19 refuses to go away, so restrictions are being tightened tomorrow: max 20 people in a space, 1 m minimum distance, gyms, pubs etc shut down.]

Finnur’s parents have always hosted an Easter Day feast, but this year they spent the day in self-isolation. We therefore spent the day at home.

To lighten the mood, Finnur made an egg treasure-hunt for the kids, and then he hosted a social-whist tournament of sorts online for his side of the family. The day ended with us overdosed on chocolates, and stuffed after a fancy meal (40-ish images total)

Easter Sunday 12 April 2020

The day began with a quick gym-ish session.

The clues were labeled with names, for the kid that would be most likely to know the answer. If no luck, the others could help.

Then it was chocolate-egg eating-time! Bjarki’s saying was “From a good mind comes good advice.” (Af góðum hug koma góð ráð.)
Finnur got “Love is dearer than all things.” (Ást er öllum hlutum kærari.)
Anna got “Many are agile even they are small.” (Margur en knár þó hann sé smár.)
Emma got “Embers live for a long time” (Lengi lifir í gömlum glæðum)
I got “Everyone thinks their bird is pretty” (Hverjum þykir sinn fugl fagur.)

Emma and Bjarki then tried playing King of Tokyo, but it was an uneven fight.
Here is Finnur conducting the online social-whist with a sizeable number of his family members, while Emma controls the mouse on my behalf.
While Finnur ‘recovered’ from his tournament-conducting (no simple feat!) by cooking dinner, I went out on a bit of a walk.

Monday 13 April 2020

It was my last day of vacation (Easter Monday is a public holiday in Iceland), so I went walkabouting. Emma met me when I arrived home.
We played the kiddie-version of Settlers of Catan. It’s nice and mostly harmless.
One of my spring-to-do tasks was ordering new blinds. Did I do it? Nooooo… Maybe this coming winter… At least I’ve taken it down now.
Emma got a hold of the camera and documented things that matter to her. I think it was around this time when the kids began going outside to play football with other kids in the neighborhood.
