May 2017 Runs On
[Photos taken on 15 May to 20 May 2017, posted online 14 23 September. Spent a long weekend on a work-trip in N-Ireland! (Now two weeks ago!)]
The Ingress game (close cousin to Pokemon Go, played by going to certain locations with your phone) posted a challenge, which involved hunting down about 400 locations in two weeks (before 21 May), and leave markers behind.
Something about that sounded like a good idea, so Finnur and I found ourselves in random locations either after the kids had gone to bed, or taking “the long way home” after work. Very little else got done during those two weeks, and yes, blog posts were put on hold.
Photos got taken, and of course life continued on as usual. Bjarki played his guitar at a spring concert, I tried going out on jogs again (only to hurt my Achilles tendon even more), there was reading, we got visitors, and I even went to a party! (40 images total and 1 video)

Back the way I came. The road on the right leads is for when I manage to go 5 km in one go.
Approaching work. It’s a rather industrial neighborhood, so there are lots of weird things lying about.
After work I found myself walking about downtown to play the Ingress game. Ended up not taking too many photos, because, hey, it’s downtown!

Bjarki acting brave before stepping into his music school for his spring concert.
The people playing all belong to the same teacher.
Bjarki’s slot was in the middle. Contrary to most concerts, the players weren’t sorted by ability, so Bjarki got increasingly nervous as better players performed ahead of him.
In the end, his worst fears came to pass, as he got very confused, and decided to start over.
He was very bummed about his performance, but felt a little better when I showed him Adele
doing the same in front of a huge room full of people. 🙂

Apparently the big kids didn’t go to school that day, must have been a staff day?
This spring I began reading “self-help-ish” book on my coffee break at work from the work library. Just to keep the relevant parts in an accessible place, I also began taking photos of interesting snippets. Here´s one from Search Inside Yourself.

At 23:40 (11:40 pm) I found myself downtown again, this time close to the harbor.
There’s a rounded man-made hill there, called Þúfa (Thufa).

Out jog/walking again?! No wonder I killed my Achilles tendon!

It was an insanely gorgeous day! Finnur had already completed his Ingress challenge (his route to work has a lot more juicy stuff than mine) so I took it upon myself to finish that evening. I was soo close! My first stop was at Kjarvalsstaðir art museum.
There appeared to be a film crew there!

Next up, the area around Hallgrímskirkja (Hallgrim’s church), and then I drove home for dinner.
At 23 that night I was back downtown, just like that seagull taking flight!

About an hour later, I had made my way to another church, Landakotskirkja.
Still light out at midnight.
My final stop was by the University of Iceland. Here I am looking towards downtown at 1 am.

The phone took a little while to update, so I overshot a bit, but I finished the challenge! Yay! (Sssh… nobody notice the time, please!)

Saturday was another gorgeous day.
Anxious old me wrote of list of things-to-do-now-that-it-is-spring. We completed six out of ten over the course of the summer.
Ragnar and Agnes came over for brunch, which was fun as always. Those easter lilies are from our garden!
That evening I went to a great girls-party to celebrate Solla turning forty! Yay!
