December Worktrip to Canada

About to land in Edmonton, Canada. There is a direct flight there, where you depart at 5 pm Iceland time, and arrive at 6 pm Edmonton time. It’s very convenient.

Departing McDonald’s, which serves fancy burgers now! The weather was in the -20C/-4F range, but thankfully not a lot of snow around.

Enjoying the sunset at 4 pm. Edmonton is further south (by 10°) than Reykjavik, and we could tell it was significantly brighter during the day.

That evening I made the “hike” to the recreational center opposite the hotel, and nearly froze on the way. I may have been hunting Pokemons… Inside the center though…

… it was warm and toasty.

No photos from me that day, but Finnur sent a few. This is Emma emptying out the water dispenser at the health clinic. It’s her favorite activity while waiting.

The day before, Finnur had taken Bjarki to a ginger-bread decorating event at Bjarki’s school.

It was pretty common for the car to be covered by a sheen of frost in the mornings.

-22C/-8F. We saw it go down to -25C/-13F. And btw, the Farenheit scale is incomprehensible!

We took half of Sunday off, and visited the nearby West Edmonton Mall.

There was a kid-hockey game going on on the ice-rink in the mall!

Hoping those ads don’t fall down on top of them!

Another zero-photo day from me, but Finnur sent one of Bjarki, and his most excellent screen watching posture.

That morning there was a fire drill at the factory we were working in. Thankfully, the factory had ordered school buses to idle in the parking lot for everyone to sit in, so that we wouldn’t freeze to death while the fire department “saved” a person who “didn’t make it outside”. It was all very impressive.

We flew back home that evening, and landed at 7 am in Iceland on a Wednesday morning.
