October Snapshots

2016-10-03Friends, Us Standard

[Photos from 03-25 October 2016, posted online 10 January 2017.  Emma got an ear infection yesterday.  Feeling better now.]

October has a tendency to pass in snapshots.  Not a whole lot of stuff happens that warrants the “big camera”, so this is mostly just phone stuff of “life as usual”. (26 images total)

Monday 03 October 2016

We begin with Emma on her daycare playground. This fall, she took a liking to biking there after we got home, and hanging out for a bit.

Big girls swing standing up.  Note the leaf-poor tree in the background.

Wednesday 05 October 2016

My dermatologist convinced me it was time for “UVB light-therapy” again. I haven’t done that since I was a teenager! So for three months I showed up at the light-clinic (very close to my home, thankfully) and combed my hair with a light-comb, and used the full-body light-cabinet as well. As a result, I’m unusually psoriasis-free, and keep getting asked if I’ve been to warmer sunnier countries recently (so tanned!). Sadly, I don’t expect the psoriasis to stay away for very long, but it’s been nice while it’s lasted.

Friday 07 October 2016

I was at the Gló restaurant close to us, when a loud crack was heard. It turned out a police-car had accidentally driven into the glass on the door cover! The police-women that were inside fetching food disbelievingly burst out laughing, and we chuckled along with them. Here are Anna and Bjarki by the damaged glass (they were at the nearby movie theater when it happened).

Saturday 08 October 2016

It was a nice day out…

… and we probably spent it tidying up, because that’s usually when I take a photo of one of Anna’s artwork!

Monday 10 October 2016

Bjarki practicing guitar before bedtime, because that’s where we can get some peace and quiet.

Thursday 13 October 2016

Daycare had the kids answer some tricky questions!  1) What is a teacher? Ómar (name of a teacher), 2) What does a teacher do? Put stuff on the table. 3) Who is the daycare director? You (the teachers).  4) What does the daycare director do? I don’t know.

Anna started meeting my brother Bjarni to work out twice per week (he’s starting working as a physical trainer). On this day there was a miscommunication, so she ended up waiting for him, but he never showed. Awww.

Saturday 15 October 2016

I began the day taking the bus downtown to reclaim the car after having left it there the evening before after meeting up with EE friends.

Later that afternoon we visited the ice-rink!

Emma not sure what to think of this place.

Sometimes my phone camera has a lot of trouble focusing. Boo!

While the big kids were skating, Holla and I took our little ones to the farm animal park next door.  Here the sheep are getting their hay.

Dinner at Holla and Óli’s!

Sunday 16 October 2016

Bjarki got really into practicing guitar using the Yousician app, but a few sessions later got incredibly frustrated by the sharp learning curve, so we stopped using it.

Monday 17 October 2016

More after-hours play at daycare.

That evening I went on a quick Pokemon hunt around our neighborhood. Couldn’t resist snapping these very bright northern lights which zipped on by.

By a fence being erected to reduce the noise from the new road.

Wednesday 19 October 2016

Rain slamming into the windows at work.

Anna waiting for her carpentry class to begin at school.

Saturday 22 October 2016

Finnur had left on a worktrip to England the day before, so I invited my mom and brothers to liven up the place. I let the kids play with these water-proof LED lights, which were a pretty big hit.

The living room view.

Sunday 23 October 2016

I eloped to a cafe for a bit to collect my wits. Anna held down the home-fort in the meantime.

Monday 24 October 2016

I took Emma to a different playground from the usual one, while Bjarki finished him gymnastics practice. I remember it being uncomfortably cold outside.  Emma found a plastic spoon there, and wanted to keep it.  No such luck for the missy.

Tuesday 25 October 2016

Just to document that snow did fall from the sky, but it was all gone an hour later.  This fall was very warm!
