Hallgerður Katrín Named

Nobody knew the name except the parents, and even the big cake gave no hints. The text just said “Naming Party”.

The parents announcing how’d the reveal would work: Earlier they’d had people draw cards with names on them. Now every one with a card needed to stand up, and then sit down as the name one their card was called, as it was not the correct name. The last person(s) standing would have the name.

Only a few left standing…

At the end only two were left standing, the dad’s mom, and the mom’s dad.  The dad asked his mom which name she had: “Hallgerður” was the answer.

The dad then turned to his father-in-law and asked him what name he had. “Katrín,” the name of his own late mother, was the answer.   And thus it was revealed: Hallgerður Katrín, and tears and joy swept the room.

And then the feast could begin.
