Horse Camp Helper
[Photos from Monday 04 to Friday 08 July 2016, posted online 26 August 2016. It weirdly warm outside still. ]
Anna was all sad because after two weeks at horse camp in June, there weren’t going to be any more horses until August. (Ah yes, such a hard life. Princess life problems!)
Anyway, towards the end of the June horse-stint, I approached the very friendly lady who runs the whole madhouse, and what came out of my mouth was “Uh… can Anna come, and just hang around the horses, and maybe help out for a bit at some point? Just, uh, instead of lying in bed all day with her tablet?” She got an affirmative for the first week of July, and it went pretty well, all though it was pretty tiring work, and very little horse riding happened. Anna riding bareback for the short ride up to the fields. That was her only ride of the day after walking kids on horseback around all day.

I took to picking Emma up before picking Anna up, so she could mingle with the animals a bit. (Finnur was on Bjarki duty, who was spending his time with the scouts). We usually arrived too late to get to hang out with the horses, but this day we made it, and she was ok with sitting on one without a saddle, this one time.

Anna’s feet were killing her after walking on pebbles all day, and I realized she needed better shoes than rubber boots with thin soles. So, off to the boot-store we went. Emma also demanded shoes (she really did need sandals) so we ended up at our local mall, where we began by restoring energy supplies at Joe and the Juice.

Feeling antsy, I started to go out jogging during lunchtime at work. The weather was too darn nice to sit inside all day!

This is a hospital, and I stayed there when I was a kid for psoriasis treatments. It was rather special.

Anna in her new boots, which ended up as her “payment” (albeit, from us) for helping out. Unfortunately, we forgot to buy band-aids for her heels, so she ended up with nasty blisters that took a while to heal.

Emma’s daycare closed at noon for the 4-week long summer holiday. I snapped a photo of her cubbie-badge as a memento, as she would be moving to a different room when they reopened in August.

This was also Bjarki’s last day of organized activities for a long time. We messed up the pick-up schedule though, so he ended up staying with the scouts for an unscheduled extra hour, but there were a few other kids in “after-care” as well, so it worked out ok. To compensate, I took him to a nearby bakery, which he liked.

Adda and Halli came over for dinner, and for some unknown reason, I dug out my Star Wars Classic Trilogy Trivial Pursuit game to play. It has some very cool play-tokens! 🙂
The following weekend was fairly quiet, as we were leaving for Stockholm, Sweden on the following Monday. The calendar tells me we had dinner with family on the Saturday, and uh… that’s about it!
