Foot Getting Better
[Photo from Monday 4 April 2016, posted on 6 April 2016. Icelandic politics are still in turmoil.]
Monday marked an important milestone, as I drove myself to work that day! And back home! It felt very adult. Walking between the car and the entrance took a while though…
Today was day six of walking unassisted (no more crutches!), albeit using very small steps. When the screw came out last week, the doctor referred me to a physiotherapist, which I met this morning. He guesstimated that I should be walking mostly limp-free by mid-to-late May, and then he did some ankle-loosening magic which increased my stride-length noticeably. Apparently, my main problem is stiffened ligaments from being immobile in a cast for so long.
Meanwhile, this week will go down in history as one of the most bonkers in Icelandic politics. I’m not sure how long these links will last but RUV, Iceland’s BBC/NPR, posted a primer to the situation (the last image is brilliant), and then quite seriously embedded the Dead Parrot sketch by Monty Python to explain the coverage of events along with screen-shots of international news-sites.
Sigh.
