Four Weeks Since Ankle Breakage
[Written 8 February 2016.]
Today marks the four week anniversary of me botching an ice-slippage landing so spectacularly that I broke multiple bones in and around my right ankle. Time moves both fast and slow.
So, how are things?
Well, they’re not bad, but not fabulous either. I keep hopping around on my left foot (with crutches most of the time), so no change there.
Meanwhile, the right foot feels ok-ish. The right side (outside?) of the foot (where they put a plate) doesn’t seem to bother me at all, but the left side (inside?) (where bones broke in the ankle) is less happy. It’s not in constant pain (although I’ll admit to taking a painkiller once in a while), but it’s annoyingly annoying. It still feels swollen, and generally unhappy.
There hasn’t been a lot of change in the past week. Mostly I can keep the foot down low for a longer period of time. For example, I could only do two things in the get-up routine (put in contacts, brush teeth) before I had to skedaddle back to bed, and elevate my foot. Now I can do four things before I have to skedaddle back to bed and elevate my foot.
So yeah, nothing very exciting going on here on the couch, just more waiting, and waiting.
As always, Finnur keeps holding down the fort, and everyone is still clothed and fed, so yay!
