Day #7 in DC: Beachtime!
[Photos from Wednesday 05 August 2015, written up on 04-05 October 2015. It’s looking very autumny out there! ]
We followed our hosts to the town of Lewes in Delaware, about three hours away by car. (33 images total)

The drive to the beach was pretty generic, but this bridge was impressive: The Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

It’s a weird crossing, because at some point a second bridge was built next to the original bridge, but they’re not identical.

We arrived at the house our hosts had on loan from a relative at noon, ate lunch, and then went straight to the beach! (Observant people may notice the shadows being rather long in this image. That’s because I took this photo at the end of the day, and not when we arrived at lunchtime, because I was carrying a ton of stuff. Live with it.)

Bjarki kept getting really cold in the sea, so he ended up dug into the sand in an attempt to warm up.

At five pm a curious thing happened. The lifeguards ordered everybody out of the ocean, and then left. Apparently they have to let everyone know their work-hours are over, after which people are on their own. We decided to call it a day soon thereafter.

After some deliberations, we ended up going to a “hibachi-style” restaurant (Tokyo Steakhouse), where a chef cooks them meal at the table you’re sitting at.
