Bjarki Goes East, Hrefna Goes to a Concert
[Happenings of 24 July 2015, onlined 06 September 2015. Good thing nothing else is going on these days.]
We booked Bjarki a stay with his grandparents over the weekend to decrease our humans-per-area ratio a bit. The showering of unconditional love always does him good.
Meanwhile, I went out to dinner with Sigga (from CA), and then finished the evening by attending a jazz concert by the group 23/8, which is fronted by my old classmate Stina. They put on a great show of Björk songs, calling it Bjorkologi. (9 images total, 1 video)

This is why kids need aunts and uncles. Would we have let him do this? Noooo… Am I happy for him? Yes!

Meanwhile, I made my way downtown to enjoy some happy hour priced beer and excellent food at Forréttabarinn with Sigga, who I hadn’t seen in half of forever.

I then walked past my old place of employment, to the Nordic House.

Inside, Stina and the rest of the 23/8 group did a fantastic job interpreting a very wide range of Björk’s songs. They infused a lot of them with new meaning for me, since I often have trouble getting past Björk’s vocalizations to her lyrics and meanings. It also sort of dawned on me just what a great songwriter/poet Björk really is. Which reminds me that Vulnicura is apparently a must-listen-to. Better get on that!

Intermission had everybody outside, including me who was still harboring a nasty cough from the start of the vacation.

Back inside, the big hot lamps had been replaced by softer lighting, which made photographing on my rather battery-low phone, even harder.
Two short videos from the concert. Apologies for the bad sound quality. That’s why one has to go to concerts live!
