Advent-time at Work

The first weeks of December saw lots of yuletide going-ons at my workplace. Older employees took this in stride, but for someone who last worked at a place where there was no such thing (just a lot of exhaustion and exam-time jitters), this was extremely novel and nice. (16 images total)
Tuesday 02 Dec: It’s customary to bring a cake if it’s your birthday, and as it happened a birthday collided with an ex-coworker also stopping by with a cake, which gave us this fantastic opportunity to recreated the famous Titanic scene. Yeah.
Thursday 04 Dec saw the first real snow for a whole month. November was unseasonably warm.
Winter Wonderland at last! And then the snow decided to stick around for over two more months. Yeah, it’s pretty much still here. Grumbles!
Inside, preparations were in full swing for the annual Yuletide buffet.

Friday 05 Dec was the day of the Yuletide buffet itself. Here’s the drink selection.

Meanwhile, just before lunch started, I drove to watch Bjarki’s class perform a short yuletide play based around the 13 yule-lads, and sing a couple of songs. It was charming!
Siblings. It’s very convenient that it takes me five minutes to drive between my work and their school.
Back at work, I found the table my group was sitting at, and then we waited a good long while until it was our turn to get to pick up some food. I think we were the third to last table to get the green light!
The main course was served from inside the cafeteria itself. It was pretty crowded but the food was excellent!
After the party, the company Christmas present was handed out: a gift card to our local mall, along with a discount coupon. Awww… !
On Saturday 13 Dec there was a Yuletide-ball for the kids. Three santas showed up!
We walked in circles around a decorated tree-simile, and sang songs. The most misogynist of them got a fun twist from the singer which made is slightly less painful.

After the singing, we all got cake and ice cream and juice and retreated to our own office area because the cafeteria had run out of chairs. It was nice!
