Prices of Clothes in Iceland

Iceland has many pros and cons. One of the bigger cons is the ridiculous price of clothes.
Case in point: I was browsing through Debenhams, and found a top I liked. The price: ISK 6990 or GBP 36.2 or USD 56.8. The reason I didn’t buy the top? The original UK price, still visible on the tag, was GBP 19.50 or ISK 3760 or USD 30.6. No matter how much I liked the top, there was no way I could justify buying it for almost double the ‘original’ price.
Ironically, a few weeks later, there was a 25% off sale, and I’m pretty sure I bought the top then, for the ‘low’ price of ISK 5242 or GRB 27 or USD 43. Yup, on sale, but still considerably more expensive than the original UK price tag.
And that is why Icelanders shop for clothes like crazy people when they travel.
