Emma’s Second Day at Daycare
[Written 21 August 2014. Same day writing! Crazy!]
Emma just barely passed the test for ‘well enough to go to daycare’ this morning, with her runny nose and watery eyes, but we figured she looked energetic enough, so off she and Finnur went.
An hour later Finnur returned all by himself, because Emma was doing well enough to be left alone. She then proceeded to eat lunch (well sort of, she didn’t touch the fish, and she hates potatoes, but she apparently ate some cucumbers), and actually napped for an hour!
Once she woke up the teachers figured she had stamina to stay a little longer, and have tea with the kids, so we were asked to come pick her up around 3 pm, which I did.
She was doing fine when I arrived, and we lingered outside on the playground in the blazing sun for half an hour before I took her shopping for various things.
As dinner approached, Emma started looking worse and worse for wear, and sure enough, by dinner time she was running a high fever. We’re assuming this is the fever that sometimes follows the MMR vaccination shot, some 5-12 days later.
Needless to say, Emma won’t be going to daycare tomorrow (Friday), but we’re crossing our fingers that she’ll be well enough to go again this Monday.
So far so good…
