Finnur Leaves for California
[Written 26 May 2014]
Finnur’s twice-yearly trip to California is upon us. He left early Sunday morning, flying through Boston.
He sent this little message back once he’d gotten through immigration and customs:
They let me in through passport and customs control here in Boston. The experience with the former was a bit uncomfortable as the line was HUGE and the guy asked for proof that I was returning back and wouldn’t let me pull up the phone to show my itinerary. Which is basically my only copy (electronic).
He then proceeded to grill me about my work permit back when we lived in the US and scolded me again upon leaving his booth for not bringing a printout of my itinerary — which he said is a requirement for the ESTA visa program (Seattle immigration have never asked for that).
And besides, not much security in a printout over what I have in my trip planner app! 🙂
But, anyway – I’m through and have a few hours to kill before my flight.
Oh, US immigration. You’re so much fun!
