Books and Plants
[Written 26 May 2014]
Anna’s totally fallen for Japanese manga books, and we visit the library at least once a week to fetch new ones. Bjarki’s also pretty taken with them, so they make quite the reading team. Emma, of course, doesn’t want to be left out so she “reads” them too if given the chance. (10 images total)

Later that day, Anna dragged me out to the yard to plant seeds, and some summer flowers I’d splurged on.

My arch-nemesis, the corner bit of our lot. We killed the tree that was there because the roots were going crazy, but we were left with an empty looking pebble-area. This spot got totally ignored for two years, and just collected weeds, even though I gnashed my teeth at it every time I drove past. So this May I spent a few hours weeding the darn thing and …

… dropped some money on pretty plants to see if they’ll grow there. Might have to find some perennials once they give up the ghost, but until then, I’m crossing my fingers for some flowers! (There are actually a few small perennial plants which have self-sown themselves there, so I’m contemplating just keeping those, but supplementing with flowers in the future?)
