Mary Poppins! At the Theater!
My brother Pétur and family gave us three tickets/giftcards to see Mary Poppins at the theater for Christmas!
Super-luckily for us, Signý (Pétur’s fiancee), works in the ticket office of the theater, so when I asked her to find us ticket at a particular showtime (which was filling up fast), she emailed back a couple of hours later informing me that a new show had just been added (the third last of a year-long run), and that we had been the first to get seats to it!
Sometimes having “connections” is particularly sweet! 🙂
Lo and behold, soon the day of the show was upon us, so to the theater we went! (4 images total)
The show was EXCELLENT! The adult cast worked really well together, the kid-actors were surprisingly great performers, the music, the sets, the dancers/chorus were all fantastic, and even the translated lyrics worked pretty well.
The kids really enjoyed it, Bjarki’s eyes almost popped out of his head when some “statues” came to life and started dancing, and Anna was all smiles.
The only drawback was that I’d picked a 7-pm show so that Finnur would have an easier time putting Emma to bed, so Bjarki was getting pretty tired towards the end, but he made it through. (Ironically, Emma was teething, so Finnur didn’t have an easy time at all!)
Some may remember that Anna and I actually went to see Mary Poppins on Broadway a few years back, and this was no less great!
Thank you Pétur, Signý, and Fannar! 🙂
