Sleepy Emma, Hyper Anna
This was a sleepy-Emma day. She took two long naps (2 x 1.5 hours) instead of the usual combo of 3 x 40 minutes, or 1 x 40 minutes plus 1 x 1.5 hours which has been gaining popularity lately.
Miraculously, I managed to nap with her for both her naps which was good because Finnur and I sort of admitted sleep-training defeat last night. Thus, Finnur spent the night downstairs (to recover from his week-long sleep sacrifice) while I minded Emma. [Editorial comment: Finnur doesn’t view the effort as a failure, but as a partial success since Emma seems out of the habit of feeding at 3am in the night]. 🙂
She actually did ok-ish. Woke up around 1 am to drink and then at 5:30 am-ish to drink again (or mostly to fart really). No 2 am or 3 am wake-ups which were the ones really killing me. So far so good.
Sadly, Bjarki was up at 06:15, which meant Emma was up at 06:30, and therefore so was I.
So yeah. Two long naps today = not a bad thing at all.
On the other hand, Anna arrived home from school in a bundle of jitters and nerves and high pitched squeeeeeeels.
Mondays are her ‘work’ days, when she does this week’s homework, and she also babysits Emma while I shuttle Bjarki between aftercare and gym practice. For some reason (late bedtime last night?) she was extremely un-Anna-like all day, and boy was my patience wearing thin by the end of the day. But she made it through the homework (just barely), although her writing had deteriorated significantly by the end.
Due to her a) complaining about her ankle hurting, and b) being obviously out of gas, she got to skip team handball practice today.
Happily, we had mom and my brother Bjarni over for dinner, which is always fun. 🙂
