Packed Day

2013-09-17Uncategorized Standard

Well, today was a packed day!  (On our scale.  I know people that are much busier, and pack more into the day.  And I salute them.  But this was busy for us. 🙂 )

Finnur took the (rather disastrous) night shift, so I took Emma with me and the kids to their school for the annual ‘what will we be doing this year’-day.  It was only Anna’s class, Bjarki’s will be later.  (6 images total)

The kids in Anna's class and her teacher at the start of the day. There are three 5th grades now (not two), and her class has 20 students.

They had us go between the rooms and in some of them there were small activities so that was a fun.  We stayed there until 10 am, and then I biked Emma home because…

... she now fits into the biking stroller! I wasn't going to use it until she could sit herself up, but Anna wasn't having any of that this morning and went and fitted her into the stroller - and yes, she's big enough. Emma's also gotten pretty darn good at sitting by herself, so I figured it was ok. She seemed to like the stroller, and was totally wired all morning, only napping for some 5 minutes (until I had to wake her to dress her up to go).

Thankfully I managed to convince her to nap for a couple of hours, and then we had lunch with Finnur who was working from home.

Shortly after lunch I went and picked Bjarki up from after care because he’d (spontaneously) asked to go practice soccer(!!!), and the first indoor soccer practice of the season was that afternoon.

Indoor soccer practice on the huge enclosed fake-grass field. Half the field is used for the 2007 boys and they split them up into small groups that then travel between stations. So it's not like they're running the whole time, and they're not always skirmishing either so it looks pretty good. And it's on alternating days to the gymnastics so we're thinking about allowing him to try his feet at it.

After the practice was over, we made a quick pit stop at home to feed Emma, and then Bjarki and I headed out again to get him suited up for winter.  He’ll be using Anna’s old snowsuit, but he needed a winter jacket and fleece lined rain gear.  Afterwards we stopped at the bakery to refuel and…

... Bjarki lost his first tooth!!

The tooth. He's been pretty worried about how this would all go down, and asking about fake teeth a lot.

But that wasn’t all.  Once we returned home, I again fed Emma, and then I took Anna out to try on and buy competition/training clothes for team handball.

I took pictures of the size labels because I have no short term memory any more (thank you sleep deprivation - getting better though - thank you Finnur!). So yeah, that was the size of Anna's shorts.

Once we got home, Finnur’d made dinner.  We ate, cleaned up, he went for his weekly badminton practice and I helped Anna with her piano practice and then tried unsuccessfully to relieve her of her own very very loose tooth.  No luck though.

At the end of the day I went over the books for the parental association of Bjarki’s old daycare (my last duties as treasurer) before it was FINALLY time for bed.  (Oh, and there may have been two loads of laundry in there somewhere.)

So yeah.  Pretty busy day.
