... I also went and bought all the school supplies needed for this school year. That included a school bag for Bjarki, because he was about to start school for the first time.

… I also went and bought all the school supplies needed for this school year. That included a school bag for Bjarki, because he was about to start school for the first time.  (The stores in Iceland like to use this ‘Tax Free’ promotion, because the VAT is 25.5% so you may think you’re getting 25.5% off, when it’s really a 20.3% discount.   Oh, the magic of percentages!)
